Incontinence
Incontinence has lots of different types and causes, which can be temporary or for a longer time. Some of the causes can be medications, problems from birth with the bladder and more. There are some ways to treat it but for some people they do have to live with it. I have to wear protection myself and I've been a part of the community for enough time that I am confident enough to share that without fear now
Stigma and Sharing
It's a really sensitive topic to talk about and being incontinent has a lot of stigma around it. I know this from personal experience, it took me a long time to make my introduction saying I suffer from it because I was worried about what people would think. Since then, I've spent much more time with the community and now I'm much more confident about discussing it (you guys are awesome).
The 7 Cups community is a place where there is very little stigma, especially in the disabilities community so don't be worried about sharing something here. If anyone wants to share that they have this, that'd be amazing. If anyone wants to share anything else relating to it, that'd be super amazing
@Harieo Thanks for sharing!
@Harieo
Thank you for sharing this with us Harieo, it's really informative. I hope it can help some people suffering with incontinence to feel more comfortable posting and sharing their stories with us. <3
@Harieo
It's unfortunate that, like many other disabilities, a stigma exists around this one. But it is really important that you shared with us, because otherwise the stigma will continue indefinitely.

I never talk about this with anyone... like I think my parents and one of my closest friends are the only people who know I have it. Even my extended family don't know about it and it's very difficult having to deal with when traveling because of the extra diapers and stuff... I used to have daytime incontinence as a young child and it was the most embarrassing experience ever having to go home in someone else's pants. Now I only continue to have nighttime bladder issues, but it's still miserable. It's the whole reason I feel like I can't live in dorms with others. I'd absolutely love to have roommates and make more close friends, but having to explain to a complete stranger in person that the person they're about to live with still pisses their bed at night... It's a horrifying thought... But single dorms are so expensive... Basically because of this condition I'm going to be forced to commute to and from college for about an hour drive each way because I can't stay dry consistantly. Sometimes it gets better and I think i'm done, and then my body decides to say "ha haaa just kidding ;D" and it comes back again. I've tried multiple alarms but i'm such a deep sleeper that I can sleep walk and turn them off. I tried setting up a motion sensor to set up more stuff for when I try to turn it off but the motion sensor started acting up and going off at random and that broke its effectiveness. I just wish I knew what was wrong. ultrasounds and scans of all sorts show i'm totally healthy and no doctor or specialist can say anything more than "....have you tried wet alarms?" and I feel my stomach drop because I don't know why this is the only solution and one that isn't working. If I had some reason, like a broken somethingerothermuscle or some condition to tell people maybe it wouldn't be so bad having to explain it to others as a medical condition, but as it stands now I feel like there's just something wrong with me and I can't explain why it happens. My parents used to be really frustrated when i was younger thinking i was just lazy or rebellious and that made things even more upsetting, but now they're a lot more kind and supportive. My dad says he read studies that show deep sleeping correlates with higher intelligence, and deeper sleeping also relates to bed wetting, so perhaps it's one of the tradeoffs of being good in school like I am. I don't really know what to think though. It's just so hard sometimes... It makes me feel like a perpetual infant... But at least I'm not alone with it haha...
