Dyslexia in school

I was diognosed with dyslexia almost a year ago, despite showing symptoms for much much longer. As I was always top of my classes, my spelling trouble was always known to teachers but not low enough that they thought I had a problem. Its only after my brother started a new school that that new school raised the question of dyslexia and as its genetic, they tested me too and found that Im dyslexic with processing issues.

Getting that diognosis was amazing as I thought that that now gave me a reason why I struggled despite being just as smart and working just as smart as others. Learning new languages was tourture and essay based exams were horrid and finally Id be given help and tips and support with those!

Dare to dream...

Im sure Im not the only one with less than supportful SENCOs in thier school, or just Schools in general. For me, Ive never met my senco. The testing we did was done privately as the school and city council were so slow in getting it organised (5 months for preliminary test results that should be out within 2 weeks) and I want to raise questions about use of a laptop in school but wouldnt even know how to go about sorting that out.

i dont really know where Im going with this but if you have similar stories feel free to add or if you have anything your SENCO taught you then add that too, imma need all the help I can get :/
