Dyspraxia

How we can help?
Although Dyspraxia is common is is often not heard of and is mistaken as being dyslexia or a learning difficulty. We can help by raising awareness of Dyspraxia to other people and letting Dyspraxia suffers know they are not alone! Help them find the symptoms earlier!

Personal experience of @EnchantingSound 's Dyspraxia
For me I think the way this learning disorder has affected my co-ordination and movement skills a lot. To this day I can not read a map, I can not tell the time from an analog clock (unless I count round and work it out), I have difficulties understanding verbal instructions, I have trouble playing any kind of sports that involve throwing or kicking, I tend to take a lot longer to type / write down what I want to say and I have major problems with my memory.
Personally I have always just wanted to avoid writing anything down because my handwriting was terrible and people even made fun it, I didnt understand this was actually a part of my disorder until I did some research.
I also find it quite difficult to organise my thoughts and when it comes to speaking aloud I often get my words all jumbled up and people have no idea what I am talking about.
When I was at school I didnt do my homework at all mostly because I couldnt really understand a lot of the questions but thankfully the school knew about my difficulties and I was let off most the time. I also avoided participating in sports at school because when I did participate I would be made fun of or I wouldnt be able to do what is being asked from not understanding the instructions.
However, I may be pointing out all the difficulties of Dyspraxia but there is a good side to it too! For me I tend to be able to write great essays, i just need extra time so that I can write it all down and then alter it around when I have finished. I also have a very logical mind and I am very creative and love helping others so even people who suffer from this can have talents!
People dont often understand what Dyspraxia is and always think that I mean dyslexia or some other learning disability or worse they just think I am ‘stupid and ‘lazy and ‘clumsy
So I am trying to raise some awareness for this learning disorder and let people know how much people with dyslexia can struggle in life. Dyspraxia can be very different for each individual but I hope perhaps this can help people understand.
