Dealing with compromised venous stasis wound. TW

I was assaulted while on my way to work in 1988. I endured many, many surgeries to keep my leg. One of these surgeries was the harvesting and placement of a vein from my left leg to my damaged right leg. The surgery was successful. I learned to walk again after two years. But vein replacement is not as long lasting as having this type of surgery later in life such as a cardiac bypass. I was thirty when I had this happen to me. For years, my right leg functioned almost as well as my undamaged left leg. But transplanted veins are not meant to last forever. I now am dealing with a chronic wound that has been compromised by infection. The pain is incredible, unrealistic, and basically mind blowing. I am currently on oral antibiotics in an attempt to clear the infection. The pain at night literally has me in a blind panic. It has started to affect other medical conditions that I have such as chronic asthma. I'm attempting to cope with all this by guided meditation, relaxation, and simple yoga. But pain is an insidious controller. I don't know what else I can do to control the pain. I'm not one for pain meds. If anyone has dealt with a chronic venous stasis wound with pain, please let me know what has worked for you. I appreciate any and all advice. Thank you. xandia

Hi @xandia. While I personally didn't experience this I did want to reach out to you. I am dealing with an infection myself right now, but it is so little compared to yours. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you are going through. I know it may seem rough but it is a true testament to who you are for fighting through the pain. Keep hanging in there! <3

Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate the positivity and encouragement you have given me. It gives me hope that this too shall pass. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for letting me know that I am not alone with what I'm dealing with. I pray that your infection will clear and you can return to your life as you know it. Take care. xandia ❤️
