Intrusive thoughts, headache, please help.

Okay I hope this is the right place to post this.

Anyways hi, I've been dealing with intrusive thoughts for over 2 years. The last three days I've managed to keep them at bay with some excercises and detachment (it feels like a whole new world honestly) however this big victory for me has come with a price. Killer headaches.

I honestly get it because it's been constant nagging and worrying for 2 years straight but the pain is really hard to deal with, it makes it hard to have any energy etc, coffeine just makes it worse and brings on anxiety (went cold turkey on it yesterday as well when I noticed that)

So I wondered if anyone has any knowledge on how long this headache will last, are there anythings (except painkillers) that can help me out? It's probably a tension headache as well as a headache stemming from overworking the brain. Any tips are welcomed.

Thank you!

Hey Caramel!

I'm so glad you were able to find a method to keep your intrusive thoughts at bay. Based on your description of the onset of the headaches, I am very concerned for you though! Sudden onset of intense headaches could be indicative of a serious issue so I recommend you see a professional as soon as possible.

They will likely want to know the following:

- Do you have a history of headaches?
- Was the onset sudden or gradual?
- How long do the headaches last? (i.e. is this a headache you've had for several days or is it multiple headaches that last for a few hours)
- What is your pain level?

I have had lifelong chronic migraines, so I can definitely empathize with the pain you are going through <3

In the meantime, I would recommend staying hydrated, eating well, and trying to sleep as regularly as possible. I hope you are able to see a professional and get the support you need soon!
