Fractured vertebrae

So not really sure if this counts as a disability or not....but it does limit what I can do. A few years ago I had surgery on my ankle from an old Navy injury. I am on disability from the Navy for that injury as well as for my depression. Anyways 10 days after my surgery in 2013 I fell down the stairs. Ended up breaking 2 ribs, my big toe, rupturing my achilies tendon on the other leg, and apparently fracturing my T6. Course I didn't find out about the T6 part till a year ago when the muscles spasmed out and I ended up in the ER. So now I am on daily Naproxen and have to be careful with how much I lift. So I thought I would put this out there and see if there were any others with back issues.

Hii @Navylady

I wanted to reply to you sooner as I've already seen your post on Tuesday but I wanted to wait until somebody that is not a random teen like I am stops by. Maybe somebody with a more similar situation to yours would have been more helpful but well, now that nobody yet replied to that thread of yours, I feel like giving you some company might do good, so here I am, replying.

Not sure about whether it being a disability or not either but it limits you in some way, so I'd say it does count as one. Sucks you had to find out about your T6 the hard way, I'm sorry about that. Sure sounds like an awful experience, these muscle spasms and ending up in ER. All of that in addition to what you've already gone through because of that injury and your stair accident, must be hard for you, sorry.

I can somewhat relate to you. I need to be extra cautious of my back since a few vertebrae have been broken. Do you need to wear a corset for it to be secure or are you spared that thing? I really do hope your back issues will get better soon and you'll gradually be able to lift more and more weight over time again.

@FearTheWild

Thank you for your sweet reply. I don't have to wear anything luckily. Just take meds everyday to try and spare myself from spasms.

@Navylady

Awesome, cool you don't need to wear anything at all.

Ah, spasms suck, I know that. Sorry to hear you have them too. How do they affect your every day life? Do they only occur in certain situations or is it quite random? And how do you manage them?
