I get extreme hypersensative hearing to consistant irritating sounds or sound of a high pitch. However, i really struggle to hear people talking sometimes i shout when i talk and i always have the tv and music on loud in order to hear. I am suffering with fibromayalgia however i dont know if that is what is causing this problem... has anyone ever had simialr experiences?

@JoyIntoDarkness . I hope things will improve for you. Maybe it's a good idea to go for a medical check up. Your family GP could do some simple test and give you further advice.

Hey, I have similar issues. If I'm in a noisy place (like a bar) I have a hard time distinguishing sounds from one another. It's overwhelming to hear everything, the music, people chatting, etc. but I'm unable to pick out voices or have conversations with people. My hearing issues are due to a neurological disorder called an Arnold Chiari Malformation. However, I've already had the corrective surgery for it - yet some neuro symptoms have continued. I would highly recommend seeing an audiologist who can conduct a hearing test and perhaps help you figure out what's going on. I know it's hard not to worry, but hopefully a doctor will be able to help you feel more at ease with it.
