(The brother of my grandfather and his wife were both deaf and dumb besides being partially paralised. Their doir bell was a light bulb inside the house which lit when someone pressed the door bell button. It is how I came to learn sign language visiting them and my grandmatger who was a close friend to them also knew sign language. Later in life, like mounting in an escalator in the underground I saw youths in sign language and I would respond passing by and it was soo funny looking how pleasantly surprised they were..😶)
My late wife lost all her hearing after she (and I) caught a cold that stuffed up our ears. My hearing came back two days later, hers got worse until she went to a hearing doctor. He told her she would lose all her hearing, and to talk to his assistant about that. She eventually got a hearing dog, and we learned sign language.
Now, my hearing is getting a little worse each year, my girlfriend sometimes complains that I don't hear her. I am not really sure what I should do.
@Offmytrack it is not hear, but "hear" is what she means...
