After 5+ years of dealing with this disorder, I'm finally ready to be rid of it. Yet at every turn, I can't seem to let go.Does anyone have any tips/know of any sites to somehow help me overcome this? I'm not interested in seeing a therapist , horrible personal experiencesand such, so..yeah. The least I want is maybe some hope or new articles to read on how to over come this.

Whoops sorry I didn't notice haaaa my mistake, anyways I suffer from the same thing what I do to help myself is make everything look as beautifully arranged on my plate as I can because if it doesn't look appealing to my eye then I won't want to eat it, that's just something I do that helps a bit I'm sorry if it's not that useful

@LuvDollie - when I was recovering, I found support groups really helpful. They felt less overwhelming to me than therapy, and I was able to learn from and be supported by other people going through similar things. I found that hearing what they said helped me to better understand how I was feeling and helped to challenge some of the 'truths' that my eating disorder had fed me.

Other things that can help

- building a support system that you can go to when you're struggling, including people in your life, but also people here or elsewhere online who can help support you

- creating a list of distractions for when you want to engage in your eating disorder but need not to

- make a list of coping mechanisms that help (meditation, yoga, drinking tea, reading a book, calling a friend, etc.)

- take it one step at a time and be forgiving of yourself. Recovery isn't a straight path with no mistakes or slips, it's a winding road with a lot of obstacles along the way. make small and achievable goals and then move forward slowly in that way. When you slip, speak to yourself with the kindness you would show a dear friend and forgive yourself for it.

- keep reaching out for support when you need it and be honest with yourself and with the people who are supporting you so that they can help you when you're feeling the most vulnerable.

You can do this. Stay strong.
