Ed+bipolar
I am scared of gaining weight on meds. I have recently been diagnosed with bipolar 2. Is there a chance it wont happen? I dont know what to do. I just cant put that in my mouth

Ah dear Mariona, yes. Bipolar type one or two seems to be very hard to treat (in my opinion). But when you get the right combination of medications - and you take them on a consistent basis and as prescribed - the bipolar part can certainly be managed.
Weight gain is a side effect of some medications. Of course there are many side effects, and not every person will experience every known side effect of each medication. So ... yes! There is a chance that you will be able to take your medicines as prescribed AND not have the side effect of gaining weight.
As far as what to do, I would suggest you talk with your doctor, or your doctor's nurse/assistant. Please tell him or her of your fears and how that makes you not want to take your meds at all :\ The more honest you are with them, the better they can help you :)
Take good care of you, ok? and do write to me anytime you'd like. ~ Platy
P.S. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder for a long time (like more than 10 yrs). I have struggled with an ED too. The ED I have is technically EDNOS, I think - but it looks more like anorexia as far as symptoms go.
