No one will help me..
I have been struggling with an eating disorder for the past two years. I've lost a very large amount of weight but I'm still classed as atypical anorexia as I am not underweight. I am getting worse and worse and barely having one meal a day anymore, and that's only with the help of weed and my friend who cooks for me. The mental health team have evaluated me and I've been informed that the eating disorder unit in my area in england will only accept patients that are under a very specific weight. This will take me probably a year or less to lose but I'm going to be so bad by then I dont really k ow what to do anymore. I just feel helpless and I cant do anything about it. I just needed a rant. Thankyou.
@fearlessTriangle9707 Yes, that's what it's like in England.
State healthcare (the National Health Service, our NHS) makes weird rules so that people can't get early treatment, so conditions are allowed to get worse, making treatment more difficult when you eventually receive it. It's not just eating disorders. It happens with other conditions too. It's possible to get private treatment, but it can be expensive.
Sometimes, if you can afford it, it's worth getting a written assessment by an experienced psychiatrist. Just an assessment, not ongoing treatment. Then you can go back to your NHS GP and use the assessment to demand treatment. It's not guaranteed to work, but someone I know did this and got NHS treatment that way. The assessment cost them £400. But I know…not everyone can find £400, and NHS treatment still isn't guaranteed.

@fearlessTriangle9707 I feel you. A year ago or so I was told that I wasn't skinny enough to get help, so I feel you so much. It sucks not being able to get help just bc you are not underweight
