Relapsing?
My eating disorder story is a very long and complicated one but the long and short of it is that I've been in recovery from Anorexia for a year. I stopped seeing my dietician because I honestly believed that she was more hurtful than beneficial to my recovery. At first, things were amazing. I was exercising frequently and eating so much more "normally". However, recently, I've been finding myself doing old eating disorder behavior. I downloaded a weight loss app and put my focus on calories in vs out. I log right after I put anything in my mouth or exercise. The amount that I set for my daily allowance is actually a bit low and I know that but whenever I exceed that number, like I did today, I feel some level of guilt or disgust. Could I be relapsing? What should I do?
Hey, @DevinJG! Recovery from an eating disorder is a long and bumpy path. You will often have setbacks. I will suggest deleting that app and try to focus on nourishing your body instead of counting calories. You can try and think of what ways have worked for you in the past and focus on fueling your body. It is indeed difficult and easy said then done but i assure you recovery is possible and relapse is just a part of it. *hugs*
