Stomach problems?
I have had a lot of stomach pain (really bad pain, so I had to take medication to cope) over the last 1,5 month. I have had 3 periodes of time (between 3 and 7 days) where I have had really bad pains. I have thrown up too. My doctor says I have too much stomach acid and should take some pills for that, untill the pains disapears again. But now I have tried that kind of pain 3 times over the periode of time of 1,5 month, and I'm getting a little worried. That's not normal, right?
A little about me: I have anorexia, but I'm not underweight (yet). I don't eat a lot around 800 calories a day. I'm not one for throwing up, but my body makes me do it if I eat my than 1,200 calories (I get really bad stomach cramps, and the only thing that helps is throwing up). But I almost never eat more than 1,200 calories anymore, so it's very little I throw up (maybe once or twice a month I throw up, often even less). I don't use laxatives.
Anyone who has tried this? Why do you get too much stomach acid? Bc I really don't know why I get it :S
I'm just a little worried that it keeps coming back, and that is something else, even though the stomach acid-pills helps most of the time. Should I go to my doctor? Or is it just how a destroyed ana-stomach reacts?
@EvilRegalsReadToo I'm sorry no one responded to this! How are your stomach issues doing now? Did you end up seeking medical care, and was it helpful?
Wishing you the best, and nice to see you still around and active :)
@Shanna My stomach problems evovled into too much stomach acid, and I ended up taking pills for it. Now my stomach are all good again :)
I used to get these terrible chest pains and would sometimes regurgitate after eating. It turned out that my diet (I drank a lot of coffee, ate unhealthy fats, loved oranges, and so on) was causing more acid buildup in my stomach that would travel up my esophagus once the opening between it and my stomach relaxed. Changes to my diet and the occasional use of over the counter medicines like Tums and Prilosec helped. One of the changes I had to make involved not drinking peppermint tea anymore because it can relax the opening between the esophagus and stomach.
I'm not saying you have acid reflux, GERD, or ulcers, but maybe keeping an eye on what you eat so you could reduce the more painful symptoms while you continue to take the medicine proscribed by your doctor?
Acid refluxes after eating may be very common, I found that a bit of yoghurt after every meal could be very useful. Also, coughing could happen when you lie down, specially after a few hours in bed, I thought first it was related to weather until a Doctor pointed to me how it could be related to acids coming back to your throat easily when you are lying down.
Be aware, follow Doctor and dietician instructions. Stay safe.
@EvilRegalsReadToo i get that too.i have barretts esiohagus.omeprazole 25.mg.helps.i was supposed to have an endeacope today end of fiscal year so no deductible as it.is met.a freak water.main broke and the hospital closed yeaterday so if i reschedule it is 3000.dollar.deductibls
@emotionalClementine6647 - Wow. I would say, *That* is unfortunate!!! Your doctor needs for you to have this procedure? Maybe he/she (or the billing dept) can work with you for a payment schedule. But yeah, 3000! Yikes! (air hugs! air hugs!) those are just physical distancing 'safe' hugs :) Please do talk with your doctor (not avoid, like I might be good at doing) - then you can find out if it is important to have this test now/soon or if it is okay to wait for another ?few months. Take care (air hug!!) ~ Platy
Hello,
Thanks for reachign out! I very much relate to what you've said. I'm currenty in the early stages of recovery and have had many stomach issues. I work with a registered dietician and she has been able to help me adjust my meal plans and explain situations for me. Typically when you've had very few calories it can slow down your digestive system which can lead to pain and discomfort. Do you have a healthcare team that is workign with you on this? Mine conists of my primary doctor, my counselor, and my dietician. I've found them all to be very valuable for different reasons.
same!
