Binge-Eating Caused by BPD
I am a teenage binge-eater who has Borderline Personality Disorder. I've always had a huge appetite, and would often sneak into the pantry as a kid. As a result, my mom, got a locked doorknob for the pantry so I couldn't get in.
Now, the pantry is still locked when my parents are out or alseep. But when I'm home alone, I raid the fridge, often devouring up to six slices of toast along with a bag of chips or a bag of crackers that i have leftover from school lunch, and I usually ending grabbing anything else in the fridge that my parents won't notice is missing, like a couple slices of cheese or some carrots or even a waffle from the freezer. It's extremely difficult to resist the impulse to make more toast, eat more and more food. I haven't gained any noticeable weight from the binging, and I'm pretty skinny, but I'm worried that if I don't find a solution to this, I will gain weight or even end up with anorexia or bulimia bc I'm so scared of gaining weight from my binges.
I don't know how to stop binge-eating!!!!
I know I'm probably of no help but you're not alone, I have BPD traits and I can't stop binging either. :(
@TheLPSoldier - I think you've taken the first step to stopping already by reaching out here. The next step is to understand the binges so that you can find ways to prevent them. You said it tends to happen in the day when you are alone, but can you narrow that further? What triggers your binges? Is it a particular time of day, a particular feeling, an event? Can you track when it happens and what else has happened to better understand where the urges come from? From there, you can start to find ways to deal with the situations in a healthier way and to pull back from the need to binge.
