Binge help
I don't really have a binge eating disorder, or at least I'm not diagnosed, but I've been trying to eat healthier these few months and I've noticed that once in a week or so, I break into a mini binge. Usually it's like a pint of ice cream or a bowl of whipped heavy cream, so it's not quite as bad, but I do feel really crappy and sluggish afterwards. I incorporate these foods into my diet in small amounts so I don't see what can be the problem?? Maybe I'm just addicted to foods high in fat and sugar?? Please help me get rid of these mini binges

Hi! One thing that might be worth thinking about is what you're thinking and feeling before this 'mini binge'. Is there something that's triggered it? Is it at the same time? Often people can using eating as a way to help us emotionally - whether that's boredom, sadness, anger or loneliness. If you can identify what you're feeling or why you're wanting these foods it can help you get past it!

I don't think it's emotional eating because I don't feel sad or depressed in particular before a binge?? It's not that I decide that I'm going to binge on these foods but more like I open a tub of ice cream because I want some ice cream and the next thing I know I've chugged down the entire pint. I really do enjoy eating it the first few bites and then all of a sudden I just have an intense urge to finish the whole thing, no matter how full I am or how badly I feel...
@cherimoya
i know what you
@cherimoya
Hm - so maybe there's like an unwritten rule of 'have to finish the bowl', even if doing so means you feel sluggish afterwards.
What might happen if you scoop some icecream into a bowl and go and enjoy that rather than eating it straight from the tub?
I found that switching out the foods doesn't really help for me. I just feel cheated is all. So I've gone back to the original high-fat versions and now I experience satiety. I'm learning that for me, it's more the sugar than the fats. With sugar consumption, I remain hungry, but get a blood sugar spike and then a crash. Then the sugar turns into fat in my liver anyways. When I eat and savor a good fat, I feel full and pleased. But I always have to honor my binge-boundaries - no TV and I must write down the foods in my journal.
