Eating to stop feeling
Today, all I can think about is junk food. I'm dying to get fast food tacos, or chips and cookies from the store. I already had ice cream but no other meals so it wasn't binging. But now I just want food like crazy. I think it's because of the stress of my husband nearly crashing our car into another out of sheer, blind rage, when we are already in a horrible place in our marriage, looking at divorce, and I just lost a parent. He has a tendency to make things about him without even meaning to. Shouting at another driver wasn't enough, he had to try to run the person down and screeched to a stop maybe two inches from their bumper. And can't understand why I don't think we're in a good place. I've been doing amazingly well on not stress eating but ever since that incident and the talk we had afterwards I just want to gorge myself on food and forget my feelings. I just want to eat away my hopeless, angry feeling that he made a decision that took away my independence rights as a passenger in the car he was determined to use as a weapon. Folks, this feels really bad.
Sorry to hear this. It is difficult to be around others rage and violence. I understand why your eating relapsed. It is to numb the bad feelings. Can you find other ways outside of food for comfort? For me baths, hot showers, lotions that smell nice, walks with audio books help calm me down. Insight timer has great audio meditations for high anxiety to help you feel less alone. Good luck 💪🏼🌺
