Emotional Binge Eating
Hi all! I really struggle with binge eating and it has led to an obvious weight issue. My issue is emotional binge eating. Something will upset me or I’ll have a hard or stressful day and the only thing that seems to fill a hole is “comfort foods”. Does anyone else deal with emotionally triggered binges? Have you found ways to cope differently/ things that help?
For my binge eating, I usually just try to have smaller portions, and that sometimes works. I also deal with anoxeria because of my depression.
I binge eat off and on. So what’s helped so far is not allowing junk food in my house so mainly binging on cabbage soup and veggies lmao I’ve never been a big veggie eater. So it helps
I still binge like crazy but I found that it helps when I focus on what I’ll feel after the binge. If I focus enough and it becomes really clear to me that I’ll feel regret, guilt, shame, and stomach aches after the binge, then I’m able to stop myself from listening to the urge. It also helps distancing myself from the kitchen or dining room. This rarely happens but I try to head straight into my room, get really comfy under the blankets, and watch some Netflix, and after a few minutes the urge disappears.
