Is this really a light problem?
Hi, how are you guys doing?
Today, I have dilemma in my mind. Actually, I have Bulimia, I just wanna know opinion of anyone in here;
Eventhough, the disorder is about food , do you see the Bulimia or BED or Anorexia as the light problem?
My cousin family see my disorder as too childish, like you are the one who can control yourself, the problem will be solved just if you can control your diet, just eat less.
But, I really can not control myself, I am just really dissapointed. Actually, for the next 1 week, I want to go from home because my cousin family will come to my home again. I just can not face them right now, I just want to be calm first. I don't want to hate them. Do someone have any advice for me? Is my plan wrong? I just don't want to be angry to them.
Everyone in my family look at me like person who don't be grateful for food, such a picky eater. But, actually, I love all the food but my mind kills me . I just want to eat food that makes me relax like clean food because eating cheat meals such as junk food, chocolate, etc make me sick.
What should I do to make them understand?
Thanks
My family says the same. That I control my foodintake, but I really don't (I'm anorexic so it's really not the same, but almost). I just don't eat bc it's really hard to eat. MY mom says it's a "light" problem, bc I have periods of binging too. And it's so weird, bc we don't choose to eat everything or throw up, we just can't help it :(

Thank you :)
Actually, I am grateful that I am not alone. But, it's really sad when I heard that my family talk about me like I am an outsider :(
It's really hard. But ,I also love them very much so let's fight this together, we can do it :))
it's definitely not something you choose! I'm sorry that you have that kind of pressure on yourself

Sorry @Mel, do you know how to change our profile? I mean editing or delete our post?
Hey! To edit your profile you can go here (that link should work! If not, it's under your profile pic in the right corner, on the deskpot site, here you can change your bio, pic, etc, not sure if this is what you're talking about!). Only forum supporters can edit their own posts (and mentors everybody's) - but if you need anything edited out, added or a typo fixed you can ask me and I'll edit it for you!

@Mel, I want to edit my post about introducing my self, could you delete my name ,age,and where I come from please?
Thanks
@Peachmango270 I don't have the experiences that you have had, but no. If you don't feel it's a "light" problem, then it's not. You may not be able to get your family to ever really understand, but their dismissmal of the issue doesn't mean the issue is at all "light."
I'm sorry you're going through that.
Sadly, many times people can't understand what they've not been through! It takes a lot of empathy to understand someone's thoughts like that -- specially when it's something that we know hurts us and that's so hard to recover from! How do you think they could better understan you?
I hope everything goes well ![]()

@Mel
For me, just let me eat enough food according to my daily calories and nutrition requirement is enough. I mean , sometimes they love to say something that trigger me to eat so at the end, I do binge eating in front of them but it's no because of hungry but it's because I am angry:(
I don't want about how I eat or my diet pattern to be the center discussion. It's just annoying to hear that.
I totally understand how that feels annoying to you! It's kind of awkward to have that as the center of attention when it's a sensitive topic. Feelings can be super related to the way we it so it makes sense you binge when you're angry (or sad, or any other extreme feeling). I hope you can manage this in a healthy way
Sending you lots of love!

What I choose to eat is my own personal business. It's your family's responsibility to provide you with food - beyond that, it's not really their business, is it? How we relate to food is an intensely personal journey, and unless I specifically ask for help, I don't want someone sticking their nose into it. Admittedly, my disorder is not threatening my health, but I lived for years with people monitoring my food, taking my food, making me eat stuff I didn't want. Now that I'm a grown up, I choose healthy foods which I like.
