What can I do to eat healthy?
Hello,
I wasn't here for a long time. But today I want to change something. And I wasn't sure I this area here is the right place for my thread. Well, I am 43, female and I have a lot of different problems. I have a lot of times when eating and depression are causing problems. I am single, started a new job last month and actually I am very unmotivated. In these 4 weeks of working I reported sick on 3 days. That is pretty much and from now I have to be careful I don't want lost my job.
I think when it comes to depression I eat a lot. Actually my weight is normal but my blood values are a bit critical. So I have to be careful if I don't want to get in trouble with my healthy. My Plan: I want to do more sports and eat healthier. And of course It would be a nice side effect if I could loose a bit of weight.
I tried this every time again since last year but after a few day I felt back in old patterns and quit sports and healthy eating. But then there are other problems that prevent me from staying on track: I have fragments of boderline in my personality
This diagnosis I get this year from my therapist. She is on maternity leave now. So I am on myself and need a little help.
What can I do to stay with my plans to live healthier and do more sports?
Actually I need more social contacts. I need to make new friends. But how?
That is not easy for me because of my borderline fragments in my personality. It is difficult for me to stay in contact/friendship.
Thank you for reading. And I am looking forward to hearing from you...
Regards,
Bne
I'm sorry that you are struggling however, by the sounds of it, your well on your way to regaining control. Look at the positives.
- You've identified the issue
- you've identified when it happens
- you know what triggers it
What you need to do now id create a clear planof action. Dealing with depression requires action, but taking action when youre depressed can be hard. Sometimes, just thinking about the things you should do to feel better, like exercising or spending time with friends, can seem exhausting or impossible to put into action.
Think of unhealthy eating as an addiction. Recovery from any addiction is challenging, but it can be especially difficult to overcome unhealthy eating habits. Unlike other addictions, your drug is necessary for survival, so you dont have the option of avoiding or replacing it. Instead, you need to develop a healthier relationship with food—a relationship thats based on meeting your nutritional needs, not your emotional ones.
Try creating a meal plan that includes regular meals to keep you satisfied and prevent compulsive eating. Instead of snacking when youre bored, distract yourself. Take a walk, call a friend, read, or take up a hobby such as painting or gardening. Instead of dieting, focus on eating in moderation. Find nutritious foods that you enjoy and eat only until you feel content, not uncomfortably stuffed. Avoid banning or restricting certain foods, as this can make you crave them even more. Instead of saying I can never eat chocolate, say I will eat chocolate as an occasional treat.
Try to ride out the emotions that make you want to go off track. Even emotions that feel intolerable are only temporary. Theyll quickly pass if you stop fighting them. Youre still in control. You can choose how to respond.
Focus on sleep. When you dont get the sleep you need, your body craves sugary foods that will give you a quick energy boost. Sleep deprivation may even trigger sugar addiction.
Are there any sports clubs near you?
Hope i've been of help!
