So my name is Jasmine and im 13 and i think i might have an eating disorder. Around the time where i was in 6th grade (11 or 12 years old) i started thinking about suicide. My parents are divorced and my sister was intensively bullying me and hitting me. Then i started going to a psychologist and if i didnt make any progress my mom would blame me and tell me "im paying for this psychologist and youre not changing" but my dad was really supportive through out the whole experience. I stopped going when my psychologist when she told me that she didnt think i needed her anymore. Now when i fight with my family or when im depressed i go up to my rooftop and stand on the edge and i think about jumping. Sorry i got carried away anyways when i see myself in the mirror i start to cry because of how disgusting my fat arms look or because of how big my belly is. Its one of the many reasons im suicidal

@stressedteen47 You're 13 years old. It's a complicated adolescence. But you already know how to analyze situations and make decisions. Yes, parents are not chosen and they are not perfect. You've already seen how it shouldn't be. It is in your power to change the situation and live a full life. Learn to control your emotions. Whatever you want to eat all the time, take the rule to drink water. It could be water with lemon.
Limit your sugar intake, fast carbs, desserts. It's in your power to make your life better

@illaria Please don't promote dieting here. She is growing, her warped self image does not mean there is something wrong with her body. She should eat what she likes and what feels good to her! This includes fruits protein and veggies, but also carbs salt and fat!

@Valentina301 This is not an advertisement for diet. These are simple tips I got from a nutritionist. I have a child, a teenager. And there are weight problems. This is due to the work of the hormonal system and the products we give to our children. Now we have excluded completely buns, pastries, dairy products (left on the menu only dairy products).

@Valentina301 In adolescence (puberty) it is very important to control what is in the dish and cup.
Not all products are equally useful. It is very easy to disrupt metabolism. It's harder to recover.

How awful it is when there is no parental support. This world has been turned upside down. It is very difficult when there is no support when it is so necessary.
I can advise you to find your hobby. Find something that will please you and what you want to wake up for.
It can be blogging, cooking, embroidery, walking dogs, etc. but I would recommend that your hobby be social. You need to communicate with positive people. People who are depressed is not your social circle. Run away from these.
I understand you have a weight problem. You can handle it, too. Now there are a lot of exercises online, they are available and free. Good helps for example Pilates and stretching https://betterme.world/articles/groin-stretches/ It is relaxation and unity with oneself. Exercise with dumbbells I would not recommend in the beginning . It takes preparation. You need to live and rejoice. You're only 13 years old, you've got your whole life ahead of you.

@stressedteen47 hey i completely understand. I have struggled with my body since I was around 8 I think it maybe even younger. I'm 18 now. I promise you it does get better. One thing I have found very helpful is thinking about all the nice things about your body. For me it's my hair, my eyelashes, the fact that my body can spin a flag, that my body can run and walk and dance and all those things. Idk If it will be, but i hope this helps you. You are not alone. You are loved. You are beautiful.

im a soon to be sixteen year old girl who also struggles with depression & anxiety and also... might have an overeating problem. i'd say i've been pretty healthy my whole life up until these last couple of months. i used to live in a really really bad environment and lost a whole bunch of weight at a really fast pace but of course i didn't pay any mind to it until i started gaining weight at an even faster pace. so let me explain. i lived in that toxic environment for about 3-4 months and weighing at about 115 heaviest 120. then i moved out of there in january and right when it hit march i was already 130-135. so in around 2 1/2 months i gained 15-20 pounds. and now i think i may even weigh more than that. i do tend to not manage what i eat and how much i consume but even when i try and diet or fast or even exercise i cannot keep weight off. i'm having such a hard time with body image and body positivity and then on top of that i battle with depression and anxiety so it's all piled up on me and i don't know what to do with myself at this point. someone please help me come to a conclusion because i'm out of options. please and thanks.

@briannamari3

Hi Brianna, I'm so sorry that you've been struggling. I just want to say that it might help you a lot to try to approach this from an anti-diet perspective. What I mean is that 135 is a completely normal weight (and even if you weighed significantly more than that, it would still be okay). The reason that dieting never works is because you're depriving your body of things that it needs, so after you're done with the diet your body works extra hard to keep all of the nutrition that you give it. Most people do gain their weight back after dieting. If you see celebrities who lose a bunch of weight and always keep it off, it's because they have personal chefs, personal trainers, and so much time on their hands to just focus on maintaining a certain body size. You should not hold yourself to those standards. Be kind to your body and give it the nutrition that it needs. You're not overeating, your body is recovering from a period where it was deprived. Do your best to eat things that feel good to you and you enjoy, and accept your body for what it is. I promise that if you get started on this now you will be so much happier in the long run. Best wishes and good vibes to you!

@briannamari3 make the choice to exercise. It doesnt have to be extravagant. Go for a 20 minute walk every day and drink more water.

@stressedteen47

Hi Jasmine,

Im a really heavy guy and ive had to except it because i have a painful bone disease that restricts me from much actuvity. Back in 2003 I had a bad dream that i had passed away and my children were crying. That dream motivated me to try something. So i gave yp bread, butter, mayonaise, and sugar, and i started making and started eating 2 really huge salads every day, then about 5 weeks of that i got on a scale and i was very happy to see i lost 35lbs. I kept going strong, rode a bike 7 miles once a week, bought a 7 week old puppy and walked him every day, took a multivitamin, and in 5.5 months total: I lost 163 pounds. I felt so great! I had lots of energy and I was so happy and it helped me to feel good about myself.

When i was your age, i had low selfesteem and i thought i had a big belly, but now 40 years later i look at pictures from when i was 13 and see i was very thin and healthy. Get a little routine going like a walk around the house, and with each lap around, do 10 pushups when you get to the back door, and 10 when you get to the front door. A 20 minute workout ending with about 40 squats is all it takes. Take a day off inbetween. Yup, if you workout lightly with music for 20 minutes every othet day, without working hard you will be doing 3000 pushups per month (just 10 at a time) it all adds up, makes you feel a big sence of ackomplishment, and some great selfesteem.

Those that matter dont mind

Those that mind dont matter

Blessings 👍👣😊
