Losing Weight After Bulimia

I developed Bulimia when I was 19. Four years later and I have stopped purging, and I am happy and relatively healthy. Yay! However, in order to beat bulimia, I had to forget all thoughts of dieting and weight loss, and put my mental health before my body. Now I am in a good place mentally, but I know I have piled on the pounds (about 20pounds since I beat bulimia). I've been protecting myself mentally by not worrying about that slice of cake or fast food indulgence.

Does anyone know the best methodfor safely controlling food intake and losing just a few pounds WITHOUT putting on the pressure of diet regimes? i don't want to compromise my progress, but I do want to get back to a healthy weight.

Thanks :)

Yeah, just keep eating the way you are since it seems to be working for you. Try heading into a gym with someone you trust and talk to some people about getting in there and doing some work. Some jogging and exercise won't hurt if you do it in moderation and not over do it.

I don't have a lot of helpful ideas for this, but it is exactly where I am right now. I struggled with my eating disorder for about 10 years and am now about a year or two into solid recovery (depending on how you define solid recovery... :) ). I also gained a fair amount of weight in recovery and would like to lose a bit, primarily to look and feel healthier, but I am terrified of slipping into old habits, so it's slow going.

At any rate, the best advice I have is to be kind to yourself, take things slowly, and have someone to check in with to make sure that you're not going overboard, when it feels normal. And if you ever want to chat about this, let me know - happy to connect!
