Struggling
Its my 4th year with bulimia. Was previously serverely overweight. A friend told me that she purged to get rid of food. I tried it then and now its an everyday thing.
I heard of others online who are in this vicious cycles for 10 over years and i'm wondering is there an end to this or will my life be over by then.
How do I stop this :/
@paperrice001 I am really sorry to hear of your struggle with Bulimia and that you have been caught in this cycle for 4 years. The sad thing about eating disorders is that whilst people may start out believing them are in control of their weight, eating etc the eating disorder can very quickly take hold and control the person who is affected by disordered eating.
I wonder what help or support you have had or currently receive in trying to overcome the issues that you have with regards the bulimia? How would you feel sharing with a friend or someone medical who may be able to offer you support or direct you if you wish to sources of support and help? What has helped you in the past, what hasn't been successful for you? What would you like to happen from here?
It is possible to recover from an eating disorder, for some people this can be a quick process, for others, it takes a much longer period of time. Everyone is unique and individual but with support you can get to a place where your life will no longer feel as dominated by the bulimia as it does now.
@paperrice001 - It absolutely is possible to recover even after many years (though certainly not easy!). I struggled with an eating disorder (morphed over time from restricting to purging) for about 10 years before finally getting a handle on my recovery! I think you're already taking the first step by reaching out here.
If you want to talk, you are more than welcome to message me - I would love to help support you in your recovery.
