Eating Disorder Check-Ins **Aug 13 - 19**

Welcome to this week! I hope that this week will be a good one for you. I'm looking forward to hearing how this week is going for you and to seeing how we can support each other here in our community.
I think that in recovery from eating disorders, it is important to look at not only the challenges, but what is going well. This week, I'd like to ask the a couple different questions to check in.
How are you doing?
What would you like to focus on this week for your recovery journey?
What are you grateful for this week?
I'd love to hear from you! Let us support you this week. Please check in! If you are not on our taglist and you'd like to be alerted to check-ins threads and important notices you can go to this thread to be added or removed.

How are you doing?
I guess I’m doing ok? Behaviorally I’m still not engaging in purging. I do find myself leaning toward restriction again though. And my brain is thinking about exercise and the thought that if I can’t purge or restrict, then I should exercise a lot more. it’s the game of whack-a-mole that happens so often in recovery. I don’t where I’ll land with that.
What would you like to focus on this week for your recovery journey?
I need to work with my dietitian on revising my meal plan and adding in new foods. I’m getting tired of the “safe” foods I’m living on, and it makes my mind wander to eating things that I know will be a trigger and I will purge. I need to find some “in between” foods that will be somewhere in the middle.
What are you grateful for this week?
I’m grateful for my therapist and dietitian, and my privilege of being able to meet with them weekly. I know that’s not the case for everyone here. And I’m grateful for this forum that gets me through the in-between appointment times. My friends are also offering a lot of support—another privilege that I know not everyone has. My goal is to be better in supporting others here who may not get support anywhere else.

So glad to hear from you and that you still aren't purging. Great job with that. I hear the struggle on the restricting side and the urges to exercise to compensate. But I also hear the wisdom that you are battling against both of those for health.
Boredom with food definitely can take a toll. Have you made an appointment yet to discuss working on your food variety?
I love hearing that you are grateful for your therapist and your dietitian and knowing that is a privilege that many don't have, and for your friends. I have to agree with you on this. I love your goal of supporting others here. You do that and I know you are a blessing.

How are you doing?
Not good. I am not loosing any weight. In fact I have gained around *** kg this last week. I'm frustrated and sad. I wanna keep loosing weight, but apparently my body doesn't want that :/
Other than that I'm ok, but this thing with gaining weight when I shouldn't and when I haven't done anything different takes up so much space in my head and my life. I don't know what to do, but the urge to starve is high and almost impossible to ignore.
What would you like to focus on this week for your recovery journey?
Not relapsing mostly.
What are you grateful for this week?
My pup. He is amazing.
@TheMadHatterWasHere
I'm sorry to hear you aren't doing well. I'm glad you've posted.
It definitely can be frustrating when the body isn't cooperating. I've also come to realize over time that sometimes when I try to force a change in weight too quickly, it backfires on me because my body thinks it is in crisis and will do the opposite that I want.
I love that you are focusing on relapse prevention. That's a really great topic to focus on in recovery. How do we maintain and make progress without compromise.
Your pup sounds amazing! An amazing pup for an amazing individual!
