Eating Disorder Check-Ins **Oct 8 - 14**

Welcome to a new week! I hope it is starting our well. I'd love to hear how you are doing and hear about your plans for the week.
Here are some questions to think about and consider as you check in.
What's something I'd like to do this week for enjoyment?
What's something I'd like to do this week for recovery that I haven't done in a while?
What's something new that I'd like to learn this week?
Just some food for thought. You don't have to answer all the questions, just some questions to help you think about your week.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

What's something I'd like to do this week for enjoyment?
Walk my dog for sure. I love walking him, I really enjoy his company. Also cuddling with him is the best!
What's something I'd like to do this week for recovery that I haven't done in a while?
Probably eat more mindfully.
What's something new that I'd like to learn this week?
How to not eat at night. Probably can't learn that in a week, but I will begin working on it.

I love that you have your dog to walk, snuggle and play with. Animals are so comforting and so smart, seeming to sense our needs when we aren't doing well.
Night eating is very common actually. Learning to not eat at night, I would ask you one question to consider to perhaps help you find a way to do so....
What are you needing in the evening instead of food? Eating mindfully during the day may help you with this as well.
When trauma, neglect/abandonment and hurt has been a factor, that many times food at night is a comfort. For some, it's something to fill the void. For others, food is something that is a protection. Sometimes food is a replacement for something or someone we've lost. Just a couple things that we've found are related to night eating, and some eating disorders as well.
@KristenHR I know why I eat at night, kinda. I eat bc I wake up from a nightmare multiple times a night that I cannot remember. My whole body is in a state of panic, and my mind tells me that the only way I can calm down and sleep again is if I eat something. It can really be anything I eat.
Sometimes I don't even remember that I have eaten at night, but when I look in the fridge or in the cupboards I can see that I must have done it again. Most of the time I am half asleep when I in sheer panic run to the kitchen to eat something :S
I don't binge as such, as in eating a lot in a short period. I can just grab a carrot and go to bed again. But as it is right now I cannot have sweets in the house, or I will eat them at night.
@TheMadHatterWasHere
Nightmares can be a big challenge. Sometimes if the nightmares are continuous night after night, it is something you can chat with your doctor about, because there is a medication for nightmares and night terrors depending on which it is.
I'm hearing you on eating for that.

What's something I'd like to do this week for enjoyment?
Decompress, mostly. Avoid people and triggers. I'd love to try out a new sports group that I'm interested in pursuing, however I'm still balancing the fine line between exercising for enjoyment and the obsession.
What's something I'd like to do this week for recovery that I haven't done in a while?
Eat for health, not for the ED. Eat things I know will fuel me and make me happy, not just keep me full without nourishment.
What's something new that I'd like to learn this week?
How to eat at regular intervals to prevent overeating when I remember to, and resulting guilt.
