[Trigger Warning] Kind Words You Needed Today
Hey ED Warriors💜
I often find myself thinking about how powerful gentle words can be, especially on days when things feel heavy or overwhelming. Sometimes we hear something supportive from someone else, and other times it’s something we wish we could say to ourselves. These small moments of kindness can make a big difference in our recovery journey.
Sometimes it can be difficult for people to know how to respond to themselves and to others who are managing an Eating Disorder, so I thought a thread may be a good idea to help share some of the kind words we all need to hear!
Please Note: This thread may include sensitive messages related to eating disorder struggles. If you are easily triggered, please take care of yourself and avoid reading further.
“If you could offer yourself one kind, supportive message today, what would it be?”
It could be something you needed to hear, something you’re trying to believe, or something that brings you comfort 😊
I think mine would be something like "There is so much more to you than your eating disorder, and you’re allowed to grow beyond it.” I think particularly during recovery, it's easy to miss parts of my eating disorder but remembering my reasons for recovery and that I am allowed to be happy outside of my eating disorder helps me remember my priorities.
I look forward to hearing your messages!💜

i think mine would be that i’m trying my best, and relapse doesn’t mean i start over. i’m just trying to get myself to believe that at the moment because i struggle with the cycles of recovery.

@myparalleluniverse 100%, this is one of my favourite recovery reminders myself! Recovery can sometimes feel like a rollercoaster, but relapses don't mean that you are back at the started and the progress is not erased 💜 Thank you for sharing with us, you've got this!
Sending so many virtual hugs 😊

You are enough 💛
You are trying your best 💛
You didn't have to be perfect 💛
You are lovable 💛
Your feelings matter too 💛
@Amanda84 Love these Amanda!
Remind yourself that you are enough, trying your best, that you don't need to be perfect and are allowed to feel whatever you feel is so important particularly when recovering! I also love the reminder that you are lovable. I think its so easy to get caught up about 'being perfect' or changing yourself for others, when you are lovable the way you are!
Thank you for sharing 💜
