Any guy with ED here?
@Nitiyahhh
Hello! I'm a listener here at 7Cups. While I don't have an eating disorder, I do know of a male friend who has struggled with one in the past. I feel that perhaps there's a stigma about guys and ED's, as they are not noticed as quickly or as frequently as their female counterparts. However, there are guys out there with ED's. And just because they aren't as talked about doesn't mean they're rare. It's sort of like coverage on any form of media - only some of the story is published, but they never actually get the full story, if that makes sense. In the case of ED's, I feel it may be true that females are perhaps more susceptible. Of course, I didn't get the opportunity to arm myself with any actual statistics or figures on this issue before replying to this thread, but I can get back to you in the future! The biggest issue, I feel, is this: Even if males who struggle with ED's are rare, they, too, deserve to be heard and listened to. And feel free to invite any you may know to join the community, as I'd love to see them get the help they deserve. I hope this post was helpful! Best of wishes

Exactly this. There are no set limits to who can having any time of disorder. So many men do!!
im a guy who's struggled w EDs since i was very young (courtesy of my weight obsessed mom, thanks 4 that lmao). I very seldom talk about it and most people don't really think about guys having EDs, i think. However i do think that it is taken a lot more seriously when EDs are discovered or whatever when its a guy who has it. My female friends who've very clearly had eating disorders and stuff like that weren't taken seriously until it was suuuper bad, and i think that's because of the whole obsession w womens bodies and being thin that society has, sometimes i think its even encouraged tbh.
I am a male. I struggle with an ED. Males take up 25 percent of the entire ED "community" in a sense.
@Nitiyahhh just read your post, and wanted to tell you you're not alone, I'm male and I've been struggeling with Anorexia from a very young age... During my therapies I met a few guys with ED, not very often, but there are some of us...
I'm an FTM transgender who struggles with my anorexic ideation even post-transition. It's gone from the ideal female body to the ideal male body. I'm built rather broad and have never been a small person but I still feel like I should look like my housemate who's thin and athletic af even though you'd probably see my ribs if I was that skinny.
I think I am, but doctor's are not "officially" diagnosing me with it.
Because of my other conditions, I have been struggling to make the decision to "gain" back the weight that was lost.
I have trouble deciding on the weight that I am comfortable with. To be exact, I am happy the way I am now.
However i am feeling way weaker than I was before... (which i presume, is not good?)
I lost my ability to run, jump (not the athlete kind, but at least as a human) like I could in the past.
There was even a moment of time where I did not have the strength to walk.
36 m here, binge eating disorder. Follow diet normally but periodically binge. Also workout a lot and am fairly fit but +\- 15 lbs depending on bungle length. Workout 5x week. Want to stop the binge. Also am prediabetic which causes (sugar)
