At Least Food Is More Comforting Than Most People Are...
Only problem now is I am nauseous from ESRD and no one cares that my dislike of this new renal diet makes me not want food even a little anymore. I really can't eat what I want or suffer dire consequences(fluid overload from too much salt...salt makes you thirsty...no more binge eating on food that ACTUALLY tastes good like pizza, burgers, and corn dogs).
I have zero appetite...so food is now another enemy. I don't know where to turn anymore. I am underweight now. Not being overweight is great but feeling like I feel and bein under my goal weight is not any better, folks. I really should lay down and pass away like I never existed in the first place. Someone please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please remove all thoughts from your mind of laying down and not being around anymore. Are there some salt substitutes that would work? What about other types of flavor enhancers? Could you maybe try some other foods? You might find some new favorites. I hope you can find some great alternatives. Im pulling for you.
@PhoenixKingRosemond89 - I think @whyme11 has it right. It completely sucks to not be able to enjoy the foods you love without having severe consequences, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't other ways to get the nourishment you need while still enjoying what you're eating. A couple years ago I cut salt way back in my diet and found that I don't always miss it if I have other strong flavors instead. Cumin, cayenne, dill, garlic, onion, and rosemary are some of my favorites and all have enough power to them to make me almost forget there isn't salt.
Are there sites out there with recipes for people with ESRD that actually taste good? Might help to find some. And, of course, if you ever need some extra support or just a chance to vent, you can always reach out to a listener here. Take care
