Body Image

Its hard to not get sucked up into the perfect body propaganda. Its so very hard. I will aimlessly scroll through countless pictures of bodies I wish I had. But I dont.

The main source of my self deprecation is my stomach. I cannot except the pooch that sits at the bottom of my tummy. Every mirror I pass I scowl at it begging for it to be gone, but why?!

Even at my lowest weight I still had it. But I still cannot bring myself to love it. Some days I see it as its real size, others its blown out of proportion. All these pictures of people with flat stomachs fuels the stigma I give to my tummy. I wish I could turn my brain off when it gets to this point.

How do you deal with a bad body image day?

Remember to keep on fighting through the hard times, and most importantly try your absolute best to love yourself even when it seems impossible. 💕

@Bmble

It's called body types and different organisms.

I'm really tiny and skinny, but also have a large stomach . I have an apple body type. Not sure if you're the same, but wheather you are or not, the worst you can do is comparison.

The MOMENT you compare yourself, you're making yourself go through hell.

No one is perfect. Even the "perfect" people have massive flaws, physically.

You have to learn to respect and love your body.

Is not easy, in fact is so hard. But is possible!

Answering your question: I eat very healthy, my doctor tells me I'm healthy (this is very important), I go on long walks, and just try to apply alot of positive self talk.

Hi @Bmble. I don't know if this will help in any way but I thought I would make an effort as you have already taken the big step to reach out.

I will aimlessly scroll through countless pictures of bodies I wish I had - I am just wondering what the thinking behind this is? It sounds from your post that you are very aware of the way this is going to go, but it also sounds like this is a cycle you definitely want to break. What would happen if you didn;t spend all that time scrolling through pictures that are proably going to leave you feeling bad about yourself?

And know that there is the thing called Photoshop and I know from personal experience of its ability to make arms smaller, busts bigger, legs longer etc etc . But you would never know just from looking at the image that it had be digitally manipulated.

But I still cannot bring myself to love it - what would happen if you didn't try to make this big step, but made a smaller one instead? What is you worked on accepting your pooch? 'It is my pooch and I accept my body for all its imperfections, after all I am human but I am the best example of me that there is.' Something like that?

How do you deal with a bad body image day? - One answer might be to fight back and work on your thinking.

I hope you find this useful even if in a small way. And i wish you all the best to overcome what you are currenlty experiencing.

Take care
paul

@calmPaul281

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. Its great to see everything broken down.

It is a goal of mine to not get into the repetitive cycle of aimlessly scrolling because like you said I know that it will only make me feel bad. I am aware of photoshop but something tells me that I need to look like that when I know in reality it is almost impossible.

I am trying to work on accepting myself everyday. And taking it one step at a time is a great idea thank you for suggesting so.

In relation to a bad day, normally theyre write offs. However, Im working towards ways I can alter my thinking and become aware that my perceptions are often distorted.

Thank you again for your reply it is most appreciated. 🌼
