Eating disorder related
Hey,
I'm a 20 year old guy and I come to realise I have some body related problems. I count calories because I am afraid to get fat, and according to bmi or fat % thing clearly states that my body is athletic. Still I have this problem of Eating right and just enough and feel I have to train every day, the days I don't I feel I can't eat much since I gain fat and get unattractive. I just don'til know how to come with this even though friends say the oppostite.
I personally don't know a lot about this field, but I found a couple websites that might be of interest to you:
https://namedinc.org (This is an organization focused on eating disorders in males. Among other things, there's a blog and a list of suggested reading materials.)
https://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/forum (There is a sub-forum specifically for males with eating disorders).
I hope some of this is helpful. Eating disorders can be so isolating and overwhelming. I imagine that this can be even worse for males, as eating disorders are typically associated with females.
These are great links to look into! DeniseB is right about eating disorders being very isolating. It's important to reach out for help as soon as you suspect a problem or notice unhealthy eating behaviors within yourself. I hope you are able to get the support you need!
One thing I wanted to add to what I said is that even though eating disorders can feel really isolating, they don't have to stay that way. The eating disorder recovery communities, both online and offline, are often very welcoming and supportive places. Secrets increase the sense of isolation. If you can find some professional help and some peers to support you, the isolation and overwhelm will improve.
