Exercise in Recovery
Hey Everyone,
Im posting this to see if anyone feels the same as me. Before my eating disorder developed I was never much a fan of exercise, I didnt like the competitiveness of team sports and I hated the idea of going to the gym where everyone could see me. The first time I tried the gym I ended up crying and leaving. Then I found yoga. This was an excellent opportunity to be alone without judgement and do something I genuinely enjoyed. But now months into recovery my ED is telling me once again that its not enough. Constantly telling me that I have to do longer sessions or harder intensity, or do something I dont enjoy to compensate. So my question really is that; Is yoga enough? Im tired of seeking validation and just want to be able to make and stick to decisions for myself.
Thank you for reading, I hope youre doing great! 💕
Oh I know exactly how you feel...
Before my anorexia I hated to do exercises/sport. I was neither able to run more than 5min at once, without breathing like a dog in summer. At first I made Yoga too, but I had the feeling it wouldn't be enough. Now there's no day without 1-2 hours of run. I do breakdance, pacour/free running, tennis and MMA — and I still feel like it would not be enough. I try to eat more (like a normal person do), and because of that my head tells me, that I have to do more exercise. "You was able to do sports, after eating nothing for two weeks — now you eat more and you should do more exercise, or why do you started to eat like that again?" And some days I don't want to eat, 'cause I don't want to do exercise. It should not be like that. No matter if I colapse while doing exercises, Ana wants more and more and more...
I hope it will get better and I hope you'll get better too. Try to gif a f*ck on this feeling; It's enough Bmble. Trust me: It's enough.
Cheers
Jelly
