Identifying Feelings
Heya Friends
Identifying feelings is really hard for me. Part of the reason why it's so hard is because I struggle with eating challenges in order to avoid feeling feelings. Part of my personal recovery has been about giving myself permisson to feel things. One thing I try to do is be mindful of the signals my body is telling me. It's a really hard skill for me to work on. I thought I would post some things here that help me identify my feelings instead of pushing them away. I hope you can relate to it too. I'm going to post here in this thread if I catch myself recognizing a feeling and if I let myself actually experience it. It would be cool too if anyone else wants to post your examples here. You can share feeling/emotions resource that helps you out also <3<3<3
Helpful Steps for Dealing with Feelings

Feelings Wheel
Here's a feelings wheel that helps gives me my words on how to name a feeling that I might be having. Sometimes when I struggle to tell people what I am going through I use a feelings wheel to help me communicate it to the people around me. The feelings wheel also helps me when I am writing my feelings down in my journal because I can use different adjectives

Level of Intensity
This chart posted below helps me identify the level of intensity of a feeling it could be low, medium, or high

Using Emojis
Using emojis can help you communicate your feelings if you are having a hard time saying them to someone else. Sometimes I point to emoji cards in order to communicate my feelings when I am struggling
