I just want a normal relationship with food.

I don't think I've had a normal relationship with food since I was about 12.

Its been so long, I'm scared it's too late and I have to live this way forever. It's so engrained in my brain I don't know how to fix it. I feel like I've tried everything yet all I do is make it worse, and I can't let go. I don't have any severe disorder but food literally takes up 95% of my life and my thoughts, andhas done for the last few years, and I'm tired of it, just how no idea how to fix it. Needless to say, my relationship with my body is completely distorted and I constantly tie my worth to my weight.

As it's nothing critical I feel stupid going to a therapist or even a nutritionist and I've definitely never opened up to anyone about this cos it feels so stupid, which only makes me want to get worse. I feel like there is no solution now so I should just give in. Idk I'm sorry. Thanks. 💜

Lila,

Thank you for sharing as many people feel the same way you are feeling! Food is hard for a lot of people and hard to develop a healthy relationship especially if that was shattered young. I assure you, your problems are not small and are worth getting help or maybe just information about. You can talk to people just for information and not have to get help for the consuming thoughts yet. Do things at your pace and it is never too late to get help if you decide to get help further down the line. This is a personal decision however and maybe just talking your options out and how you feel about each option would help!

I hope this helps,

Ocean

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I want you to hear one thing: you are valid. You are worthy of treatment. You don't have to be "bad enough" to get help. I know how hard it is when food and body image consumes your whole day, day after day. It's miserable. I am not in your shoes, and I want you to know that just coming here and sharing your story is huge, and the fact that your reaching out makes me believe that you can have a life outside of food and body image. You are an amazing human being who deserves to feel better. If you ever need someone to talk to, about anything, even just to touch base on your day, I'm here.

Hello,

What are you going through is not easy at all but kudos to you as you're beave enough to share this as many people just couldn't find it easy. I agreed that to making a good relationship with food is not easy as sometimes things became more complicated but it's not impossible though. Don't be afraid to share your story to your family or close friends as sometimes when we're surrounded by our favorite people it get easy to make a better choice and to build a good relationship too. You're not alone in this world. You're brave and I'm proud of you. You'll come out of this situation very soon. :)
