Intermittent Fasting going to far?

TRIGGER WARNING

For those who dont know what Intermittent Fasting (IF) is, it's fasting for a period of time (say 8 or 24 hours) then consuming food in a time limited period. Simply put, it's skipping 1-2 meals per day.

I have been doing IF for 3 days straight now. Ive been only eating lunch and it's around [calories edited by 24Help1] calories or less. Is this going to far? I can't seem to stop? I really need help please. I feel so bad about how my body looks (I'm not even overweight. On the contrary, my BMI says I'm healthy and I shouldnt lose any more weight). Please help me.

@mikethenoodle I am sorry to hear how difficult things are feeling for you and that your feeling very unhappy about how you perceive your body to look. It sounds like your in a really difficult place right now? Is anyone aware currently of how you are feeling? Have you considered talking with perhaps a GP about how your feeling and what your currently finding difficult with regards your diet/fasting/appearance?

While some people feel that a period of fasting helps to detox their body etc it is important that you bear in mind looking after your health at the same time. You say your skipping 1-2 meals a day and the meal your eating is around 500cals. I just wanted to put the following information here for you:

Within a healthy, balanced diet, a man needs around 10,500kJ (2,500kcal) a day to maintain his weight. For a woman, that figure is around 8,400kJ (2,000kcal) a day. This is according to the NHS choices website. However, this intake of calories can vary depending on age, metabolism and levels of physical activity, among other things.

Calories are a measure of how much energy food or drink contains. The amount of energy you need will depend on:

your age – for example, growing children and teenagers may need more energy
your lifestyle – for example, how active you are
your size – your height and weight can affect how quickly you use energy

Other factors can also affect how much energy you burn. For example:

some hormones (chemicals produced by the body) – such as thyroid hormones
and some medications – such as glucocorticoids, a type of steroid used to treat inflammation being unwell

If you BMI is currently within the healthy range, this would be important for you to try and maintain as either side of that could potentially cause you health issues.

I wonder if this fasting started as a result of wanting to feel heathier or whether there is a desire their to lose weight? Have you struggled previously with this kind of pattern?

@dancingRainbow45

no, sadly no one knows about this. I've been struggling this whole time because I'm too scared to tell anybody in real life in fear of judgement.

And yes, I think I'm doing fasting for the sake of losing weight. I wanna have a sense of control in terms of my physicality because my mental/emotional sfate is almost beyond my control. I want to feel good in my own skin, and I'm desperate to have results now. I'd do absolutely anything to be comfortable in my own skin even if it results in unhealthy methods. :(
