Lost the weight I wanted but unhappy

A few years ago, I was bordering on clinical obesity so I took it upon myself to get healthy and lose weight. Fast forward to since last year, I've lost all the weight and everyone says I look thin but I really don't feel it and it kills me. When I look in the mirror, I just hate how I look and I still think I look fat. Its more than that though. All I think about is food. All I want to do is eat food. I weigh myself every day and I hate that the scale is able to determine what mood I'll be in.

I'm so frustrated because I'd be happy once I reached my goal weight but instead I feel horrible and I don't know what to do.

@sillyputty23 - It can be so easy for what starts as a quest to be healthier to turn into an infinite contest with yourself. And when you put too much stock in a number telling you if you get to be happy, it's hard to achieve. Would it help to reflect instead of on that number on the things you can do with your body? What do you have the energy to do now that you wouldn't before (or if you lost more)? What can you do with the strength you have gained? What goals have you achieved that have nothing to do with the number on the scale, and what other non-number specific goals do you have? I find that the more I reflect on those types of things, the easier it is to be happy with my progress and my life in general, no matter the exact weight. And past that, hide that scale! Weight naturally fluctuates throughout the day and week, so keep it hidden away and don't weigh yourself more than once a week, if you even need that.

Take care and good luck - there's a whole world out there to enjoy!
