Open Discussion On Body Shaming
I've been skinny shamed. It sucked, needless to say. thought a thread discussing our experiences with Fat Shaming, Skinny Shaming, or Fit shaming, or any other forms of body shaming would help us all know we are not alone and find people we can relate to. So go ahead, feel free to post your experiences with body shaming and how you cope. as always, I'm just a PM away if you want to talk.
I've always been fat shamed no matter what I do... I'm sorry that skinny shaming also exists. I would love to be skinny. Skinny is always beautiful. I really am sorry that happened to you...
I know how you feel! I would give anytbing to be skinny! I hate being over weight but it's all my fault for letting it get this far. I'm 17 & weigh close to 300 pounds and it's horrible being bigger than all your family and friends. I feel like there's an earthquake every time I do any sort of movement. I hate eating because I feel so humongous and my parents make me eat because it's worse if I don't eat. I don't know.. All I know is I've never felt beautiful and I probably never will but I really want to make a change and be BRAVE. I don't want to let my weight define me anymore.
@Oceanmermaid @Bravehonestbeautiful I can't tell you guys how greatful I am that you shared your stories! As a Listener I often come to the realisation that the grass always seems greener on the other side. Its like society never accepts us. I get called "freakish bag of bones" "anorexic" "skinny b*tch" and been mocked for the fact that I am naturally thin. I'm so sorry to hear you guys being Fat shamed.
Skinny shaming is dumb,.I have friends who get told to eat just cause they are skinny, like really? Plus it only amuses me cause those are usually the friends that come over and clean out my fridge cause they eat everything.
Not that it bothers me anymore, but girls used to think I was a slut because I have a slim body with curves and whenever I wore a dress I was always embarrassed that my rear would bring attention to itself. It wasn't my fault. I have a small body. Things are gonna stand out.
I'm thankful that they are showing more women with curves in the media. They used to be portrayed as being "ghetto" or of lower class. Women with "high class" were the tall, thin ones without a backside. I'm an adult now and when people try to shame me for my body or for any scars/stretch marks/discoloration/birthmarks I have I stick up for myself. It sends the signal that I've already accepted myself and that's how they need to treat me too.
I Hate my body I'm over weight and I try so hard but it doesn't work I have tried starving myself I have tried diets and the gym but it's hard and I think I need to go back to not eating really
The grass always seems greener on the other side. I've been called "horrific bag of bones" "skinny b*tch" "anorexic" and other hurtful things just because I'm naturally skinny. The grass always seems greener on the other side, we need to understand that someone will always find faults with how we look in one way or another. *virtual hug* thank you so much for sharing your side of the story :)
@NewRomantic677
It kills me to see these words coming from you. Your inner beauty has always shone through to me and it's awful to see you in pain. I hate the fact that there are people who exist with the sole purpose to tear someone else down. Keep fighting, you are all so strong. Those words don't define you as a person, it defines them. People only hate on others for 3 main reasons:
1. They hate themselves
2. They see you as a threat
3. They are jealous of you
You're all better than that, you're all worth more than those numbers on the scale. Your appearance doesn't determine your value, true beauty comes from within.
@NewRomantic677 - Thanks for creating this thread! I completely agree that body-shaming of any kind is unacceptable and so hurtful. I long for the day when we can all stop being so concerned about other people's bodies and instead just want each other to be happy, healthy, and at peace with themselves. <3
It would be really appreciating that you shared your feelings with us.Please don't be ashamed of body shaming,I knew how it feels.Well everyone use to say me various things for my health and I used to get demotivated. On that I started to get motivated by friends who helped me to wear swim wear and biknis at beach party and all gave me an amazing comments. It really feels good and would love to thanks dollboxx who had a great collection of it and made me live again.
Hi,
I am thin shamed almost daily because of the "curves movement." I can not help but be a little hostile, and I know it is not healthy. My main issue is that I am being called, "Not a real woman" or "Now you know how we felt all of these years." My problem with this is that I am now being viewed as an abuser just based on my body. If people really knew me, they would understand that I never made fun of anyone for their body. Now I am being treated poorly because of the media. Here is the kicker. I am a size 6. I am not a 00, as I am being called (god speed to my 00 ladies...I can only imagine what you are going through if my shaming is this bad). I have not bought jeans in years. I did some shopping today.....I put on a size "6" and you could almost fit 2 of me in them....so according to vanity sizing I am now a size 2. That is not my "real" size, but I am now being labeled as smaller by the stores. I am just crushed because no matter where I go, I can not seem to escape this "YOU ARE SO TINY" mentality. I am not tiny. I am a person. The term "real woman" really angers me. All women are real women.
Sorry guys. This is the only place I can vent. :(
@kindpotato - No need to apologize for venting. Body shaming of any kind is cruel and unfair, and ultimately incredibly upsetting and frustrating to be on the receiving end of. And you get to vent or rant or do whatever you need to in order to let it all out.
