Want therapy but mom says no

My mom says I'm not sick enough anymore to warrant therapy. I've done a lot of recovery on my own, it's almost been a year (March) since I decided to begin recovering and Id like to think I've come a long way. However, I know I'm still sick and I don't think I'll be able to get 100% better without actual professional help. Since I've done ok with recovery on my own my mom says I'm okay enough that I won't need therapy. I would be okay with more self recovery but I'm a high school Junior and I want to go to college far away but I don't know if I'll be able to fully prevent a relapse living a thousand miles from home. I want to be able to take care of myself without having to watch my every step just in case it could cause a relapse and I know I need professional help to do that. I guess I'm just a bit frustrated, I'll talk to my mom again soon, my birthday is in March so maybe I'll talk to my doctor then. Idk guys but thanks for reading. I'm assuming if you're in this group tab you're either struggling or you've struggled and so to all of you guys reading this know I feel your pain. You're amazing and lovely and I believe in you <3

I am sorry to hear you are currently in a position where you are not able to seek for the professional support you deserve and think you need.

Just remember you are not alone! I'm glad to see you have decided to start your path to recovery and help your healing process by becoming part of the 7 Cups of Tea!

I do hope you will be able to access the services you feel you desperately need soon!

Take care of yourself and stay strong! I believe in you, I really do! ❤️✨

@orangepages24 me too, except my mom also wants therapy for herself and tbh I'm afraid that if she ever let me get therapy it would be all about her. Maybe waiting until you're away from home will actually work out better, that's what I'm hoping for anyway. Idk, if ur in high school do you have school counselors? I know my school does, I've been too afraid to talk to them but to me that's my bright spot of hope, maybe it can help you too!

@silentClouding Hey! My school does have counselors and I've talked to them before but they're not the most helpful :/ I hope the ones in your school are though! I agree about waiting till I'm away from home, I figured if I can't get help anytime soon I may as well invest once I move out but I'd like to start now. I wish you all the best in your therapy adventures and that you and your mom both end up ok :)

Hello, thank you for sharing this! I want to commend you for deciding to start recovery and for making it this far on your own. Recovery can be really difficult, especially without professional help, and I can already tell that you're an extremely strong and resilient person who will make it far in both your recovery goals and otherwise. I can really understand why you would want professional help to make sure your recovery process is as smooth and successful as possible. You definitely don't need to be "sicker" than you are to deserve therapy, you deserve that extra support no matter how far in recovery you've already come. I'm really sorry to hear that your mom thinks otherwise :( I'm here if you need someone to talk to, and I wish you all the best!
