🌸 A Gentle Reminder/Suggestion: Please Avoid Sharing Weights, Numbers, or Calories!! 🌸
As someone who understands eating disorders deeply and knows how complex and sensitive recovery can be, I just wanted to gently suggest something that can make a big difference for everyone here!!
Please try to avoid sharing specific weights, goal weights, calories, clothing sizes, or numbers in general when posting. I completely understand the urge to include those details, especially when you're trying to be honest or track your own experience, but numbers like that can be really triggering for others in the community, even when that’s not the intention at all.
A lot of people here are in different stages of their journey. Some might be trying to stop comparing themselves to others, some might be working hard to unlearn number-focused thinking, and for many, seeing those stats, even just in passing, can lead to a spiral of unhealthy thoughts or behaviors.
Eating disorders are not defined by weight or size. Anyone, at any weight, can be struggling. That’s why it’s so important to focus on how we feel, what we’re experiencing emotionally, and what kind of support we need, rather than the numbers.
I really believe this small shift in how we share can make this community safer for everyone. We need to be cautious of ourselves, and also mindful of those in recovery, or those who are still figuring out where they stand. It’s about creating a space that supports healing over comparison.
You haven’t done anything wrong if you’ve shared numbers before. This is a learning space and also i'm not even sure if this is a rule this forum has, and a lot of us were never told how harmful those comparisons can be. But moving forward, I really suggest keeping posts free of numbers so this can be a more gentle and healing space for everyone.
Thank you for being here. Sending love to anyone who needed this reminder today!!🫂😘🥰
@safeplace288 It is a guideline for this community https://www.7cups.com/forum/eds/ clicking on About goes to the tab with community-specific guidelines.
If people have number-specific goals they are working towards, Healthy Living is an appropriate community to post to share those details if they like.
If there are specified numbers in this community, anyone is welcome to flag those. If a post still makes sense without the numbers and follows guidelines otherwise the forum team will do their best to just edit the post appropriately, instead of deleting it.
