Dealing with body dysmorphia
How do you deal with body dysmorphia? What do you do when you feel disgusted with yourself? How do you overcome this? Share with others and help others overcome their challenges too, speaking out can do more than you think ❤️
@Friend1yDuckling I would actively recognise that yes it's an issue, I would do Root Cause Analysis (RCA) put my thoughts on paper and list out things I could do to help eliminate it.
Be consistent with the new routine, observe visible results, be more pumped to do better. Repeat!

Body dysmorphia is something that is so hard, especially because it makes you doubt yourself and your own perception of yourself. When you feel disgusted with yourself I find its really helpful to ground yourself in the present and really try to be in your body. To become more grounded I like to use the 5-4-3-2-1 technique, which is looking for 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and something you can taste. To get back into your body and feel present with yourself, I like to sit or lay on the floor and try to feel it underneath me. You can also take deep breaths and feel the air coming into your nose, filling your lungs, and out your mouth.
As another person commented, it is also really important to look beyond just how you feel, and look at why you feel the way you do. There is always another reason behind what you think, and its not your body that is the problem. Often it is a cover for stress, fear, insecurity, or many other things.
Another thing that can help, is being neutral about your body. Often we are preached all about body positivity and we have to love ourselves, but that can be a hard shift. Forcing yourself to look in the mirror and say "I love the way I look" is really not helpful when you are struggling. Instead, try to be neutral about your body and not negative or positive. Your legs help you walk, your stomach helps you digest food, your arms help you with so many things.
I don't know if that makes sense, but I hope someone finds it helpful :)
