Extreme Dieting from Highschool Caused Me to Gain 100 pounds
Hello!
I just wanted to let something out of my chest from something I've been going through for the last couple years while going to college.
Today and well numerous days at times, I feel *** from looking at new stretch marks, clothes not fitting and seeing my double chin.
When I was in highschool, I went through a strict diet and forced myself to do workouts I did not like.. back then I thought what I needed is discipline so I needed it but I ended up throwing up the food I could not hold myself back from and go countless hours researching how to lose weight faster.
Now, Im suffering the consequences of that by binging and having no self control with what I eat. I also have no motivation to workout and whenever I do wanna start a diet, I eat even more because I messed up from just a little snack or drink.
I am worried that I won't be able to get back into a healthy lifestyle without causing myself to stress about weight. I would get help but it is too costly and my college only offers screenings.
Thank you for reading and I would appreciate it if I could hear some advice!

I'm sorry that you feel this way about yourself!
Moderation in everything is what counts!
One step at a time.
Not stressing yourself out!
You can get fit, but exercise should be fun and done at your own pace.
It doesn't matter how long it takes, even small progress is progress.
You cannot fix what went before but you can be gentle on yourself now.
You matter and you are a kind and beautiful person, even if it is something you cannot see right now!
Best of luck with everything!

💌 Hi there, thank you so much for opening up and sharing something so deeply personal. That takes a lot of courage.
First, I want to say—I hear the pain in your words, and it makes complete sense that you’re feeling weighed down by your relationship with food, exercise, and your body. What you’ve described isn’t just about “willpower” or “discipline”—it’s the result of years of pressure, stress, and trying to manage impossible standards. Your body has been through a lot, and so has your mind. 💔
The cycle you’re describing—strict dieting, restriction, binging, guilt—is unfortunately so common, and it can leave you feeling powerless. But the truth is, your worth has never been tied to stretch marks, clothing sizes, or numbers on a scale. 🌸 Your body deserves kindness, not punishment.
It’s completely understandable to feel unmotivated or afraid of “messing up” again. Healing doesn’t mean perfection—it means slowly learning balance, patience, and compassion for yourself. Even tiny shifts, like allowing yourself to enjoy a meal without shame, or moving in a way that feels good rather than forced, are meaningful steps. 🌿
I know access to professional help can feel impossible with costs, but please know that your struggle is valid even without a diagnosis or therapy. There are still supportive spaces (like here 🤍), communities, and small daily practices that can remind you you’re not alone.
You are not broken. You are not failing. You are already taking a brave step by sharing this, and that shows me you have strength and hope inside you, even if it feels buried right now. 🌷✨
My messages are open if you need them ever.
Bubbles 💜🫶
