You ask a great question.  Glad you've asked.

Food can be a way to deal with intense emotions or situations where you don't feel like you have any control.  Many addictions started as a way to cope with the same thing.  A big difference is you can't stop eating.  So there are significant differences in that addictions can be given up and not picked up or turned to when going into recovery.  That's not possible with food.

There is however, just like addictions, ways to learn to deal with your relationship with food.  It varies whether you have a poor relationship with food or an eating disorder.

What have you noticed between them as you ask this question, related to your own eating?
