I can't eat
Hi. This is my first time here and I hope that this fits under these categories since I don't know where else to go. All of a sudden, I can't eat. I get hungry, but there's nothing that appeals and looking at food makes me sick. I don't know what to do. I'm 13. I eat too much junk food in an attempt to gain weight, but it makes me feel fat and unattractive. How can I make food seem... edible??? THANK YOU!!!

Instead of focusing on junk food, try to have balanced meals with different types of food – veggies, proteins, and carbs. Taking small steps might help. And remember, feeling good isn't just about weight; it's about being healthy and comfortable. Your worth isn't determined by a number on a scale. Remember that. I'll also advise you to speak to someone who you trust or a professional.

i’m in recovery from an ED right now and something I learned from my therapist is people usually develop issues with food when they are having trouble coping with something else ( this could be something going on now or something from a long time ago ) so it can helpful to think about what that may be. I like to give myself rewards for when I eat my food like, buying new art supplies or doing a face mask. I also try not to worry about exactly what I’m eating, even if it’s “junk food” i will eat anything that makes me feel good. I keep a food diary of foods that make me feel good and bad. Also it can be encouraging and fun to eat to try a very new or different food. Also you don’t have to wait until the last minute to talk to a doctor about it, you don’t have to wait till it’s really bad or even meet the criteria of ED before receiving support from a doctor or therapist. The way i like to think of creating a healthy relationship with food is to find other coping mechanisms other than food to give food less stress I think of it as a slowly transferring all the problems with eating or not eating food to a more healthy coping mechanism like art or journaling.
Try to make food a source of life. So what you put in your body should be contributing to health. Junk food won’t make you gain healthy weight it will make you sick :( mentally and physically. Take one day at a time and opt for healthy solutions. Hope this helps ..

Others have given you some good feedback. I'd also like to mention that if it's possible to talk to your school counselor or a dietitian who has knowledge about eating disorders they can help you figure out a meal plan for you with foods that you might like or might try.
Hi! I’m sorry you’ve been struggling to eat, I know it can be difficult sometimes. You mentioned that nothing looks appealing and that looking at food makes you sick. I think it could be helpful to think about exactly what about food makes you feel that way. For example, is it the appearance (it doesn’t look aesthetically pleasing)? Is it the texture? Is it the smell when you open the refrigerator? The solid aspect? Once you identify what exactly is making it really difficult, you can work on overcoming it. For instance, if the food doesn’t look aesthetically appealing, you can try purchasing a meal from a cafe or a bakery that looks prettier. If you don’t feel like eating solid food, maybe opt for a smoothie, and so on. Good luck, and try to make sure you’re nourishing yourself both physically and emotionally! It’s important to engage in self care 😊
