I need help
Hello! Nice meeting you all.
I have been struggling with body image and eating habits for a long time, the thing is that I have never been underweight… I know it is unhealthy not to eat or skip meals or eat little, but I just can’t stop doing it. I need help if anyone can let me know how to stop having an unhealthy body goal.
@GeminiBlossom First of all, beauty is diverse. If you want to become healthier, then losing weight is definitely not something that you can see results in a short period of time. Rather than simply reducing the amount of food you eat, I suggest you do exercise. Getting in shape will be healthier than losing a lot of fat.
I totally understand you there I also have poor eating habits with not eating till dinner and when I do it’s very very little. I also exercise at the gym and like you I have never been underweight. But this can get dangerous for you. I suggest reaching out to your therapist if you have one. They can normally give you options and help find someone who can help. I personally reached out to mine and she set me up with a nice dietitian lady. It’s gonna be so hard but Keep fighting
@GeminiBlossom Small steps. I'll use the staircase analogy.
Say you have a really tall staircase, If I took three stairs at time I'm probably going to end up falling or hurting yourself. If you take the stair case to stairs at a time you're going to lower the risk of falling. and if you go one stair at a time your chances of falling are minimal.
This applies to recovery. If I try to take it too many steps at a time, then you might fall back down into a spiral of negative behaviors. However if I take recovery one step at a time I'm less likely to fall and go back wards. Less likely does not mean not going to happen.
Working with your treatment team and setting achievable goals for you would be a really great idea. If you don't have a treatment team now, I suggest getting one.
To set a goal make it SMART: S-Specific M-Measurable A-Achievement R-Relevant T-Time bound.
You've got this!
Sincerely,
Breathe <3
@GeminiBlossom
First of all, I agree with your point of view. It is very important for anyone to have a good body image. According to my understanding, a good eating habit is to eat as much fresh vegetables and fruits as possible and some seafood every day. And we have to do some right amount of exercise every day to increase physical function, I hope you will complete your goal as soon as possible.¥›
@GeminiBlossom I feel you. I'm currently very overweight after recovering, and I just find myself skipping and skipping to see the scale go down :S
@GeminiBlossom Hello. I am so sorry you are going through this, I have been through it for a good part of my life too. I can thus understand that it must be really hard to go through this. What worked for me is looking at the journeys of people on the internet or maybe around me, gaining motivation from it and healing my body and mind. Restrictive cycles and then binging and all of that, really messed up by body cycle. I was in a really bad place mentally too. What I took from those videos is the inspiration and will to go on. There is this particular youtuber, Stephanie Buttermore, who particularly helped me understand the importance of healing my metabolism and this my body image. Maybe looking through some previous videos of her will help you get the right motivation and inspiration to go forward on the journey. The biggest thing I have learnt is that, I NEED to consciously make a choice each day and everyday to do the right thing for myself everyday. (P.S. I am not sure if I can suggest things like youtubers and all of that, but I thought it might be helpful so I did.)
Just a quick reminder you are not alone in this journey, all of us in this together. I hope you reach out whenever things get hard ♥️
