Steps to take
Hello!! what steps can i take to start recovery from my eating disorder? my personal experience is restrict, binge, purge. my brain tends to tell me i dont deserve food and i have an obsession with checking the calories and scales. i’ve been trying, but forcing myself to eat 3 meals a day isnt helping me brain-wise. please give me some advice!!
Are you in therapy or seeing a nutritionist because they would have better long term advice and support to nurture you through it on a long term basis.
In the meantime, I would ask myself, Why do I feel I don't deserve food? Everyone deserves to eat and feel energised, to take care of their bodies and look after themselves.
If 3 meals a day is too much. I would work up to it, maybe smaller snacks or meals and only what I was craving.
I would watch cooking shows and think, this is a great meal, I'm enjoying this, my body is thanking me for nourishing it.
What about simpler things like sandwiches, soups or smoothies, they might be lighter for you or maybe fruit or veggies with a nice dip?

Hello there my dear friend.
I have been through this. At elementary school. With no help. My parents and siblings used to yell at me, try to force me to eat, insult me and threatening me. Let's get these more explained.
- They yelled at me in a way that I still remember telling me to eat and stuff. That hurt me a lot.
- They tried to force me to eat telling stuff like: eat this on your own or I ll shove it down your throat etc etc
- They were insulting me telling me why am I so thin and I need to gain more weight and thst I m "weird"
- They were threatening me that i will end up in the hospital and they will not be there for me tiring themselves because I m stupi.d enough to not eat.
You understand my situation wasn't easy and I was at 3rd or 4rth grade of elementary school. Like what? 10 years old or something?
Yeah. Well I pulled through it on my own. I used to see food and want to throw up. I threw up the food. It was hard for me to swallow. The smell of the food the image of the food and the breakfast, lunch and dinner times were my worst nightmare (and where all the above took place)
How did i pulled through? Well I dont even know how and where I found the strength to get on my own two feet and get through it. I really dont know. But j will try to give you some tips that might help.
- Try to take something you used to like a food you like and place it in front of you. Distract yourself like with watching TV or your phone or talking with someone and start eating slowly.
- Drink juice or water. It helps you hydrate
- Eat small pieces of food to open up your appetite slowly.
- Don't force yourself to eat. Don't cry. Don't get angry over yourself for it. Slowly you will manage to pull through. It needs and takes time
- If you need professional help go get it
Text me if you need anything. I dont know if I helped. Wish you the best. I believe in you and I m proud you are still here!
