binge eating
hi, nice to meet you. i'll do a short presentation on why im here. i'm a student at an university art faculty, but i'm going to graduate very soon, at the end of this month. i'm afraid of the future, as my ideal work goals are clear but very difficult to reach. not knowing what i'm going to do and where i will be in a month scares me so much. adding to this, recently my routine stopped being consistent and i relapsed to my binge eating addiction. last year, while i was abroad for an erasmus project, i felt extremely lonely and abandoned my people back tovmy country that i seeked comfort in binge eating, which led to gain a lot of weight. once i came back home, i started a very restrictive diet and excercise that helped me not only lose the excessive weight, but also more than that (i never suffered from overweight, and after that not even underweight tho). my body image peaked at that time, but people around me were very scared of my rapid weight loss and were preoccupied. and here we are again. after some time, i decided to be less strict with my diet and did intuitive eating, and everything seemed good, but once i stopped going to class because of the end of university, i spent more time at home which led me to daily binge eating again from stress and boredom, this time followed by extremely eccessive sport. my weight fluctuates a lot, i am constantly overworked, tired and constipated. after every binge, i know ithe result is that my body and brain will be in pain, but once i start eating i cannot stop. i cannot see gray, everything is either black or white. either i go to my restrictive diet or i keep binging. i feel at my lowest now, because i knew how beautiful i was when i was skinnier. everyone was worried but they complimented me. and this harmed my self esteem.

First things first, such a nice presentation 💯
You did a lot of work --> Lost momentum and relapsed and feeling low but are pumped again to be at your peak. That's very motivating.
We all fall very often due to various reasons. Energies in universe are all waveforms usually they peak, they go to zero then they see peak again. So your relapse could be explained in same way, I wouldn't overthink.
I now take those feedbacks in my system, and with those past inputs I again start my journey but these time the difference is you are more wise and cautious. Like when you achieve the peak form you would actually appreciate it since you know what the trough feels like.
As far as how to achieve, easiest way could be to set routine for a week first, with visual appreciation each day you don't binge eat. Identify the triggers at first and stay away. Once you pile up some days, you would be auto motivated not to loose so much progress you have already made.
One wise man once said that at first its "Conscious incompetence" then its "Conscious Competence" and last stage is "Unconscious Competence".
I wish you the very best !
Hello, nice to meet you too🫂🫂. I believe you are overeating not just binge eating at this point. I used to be the same: eat even though I ate a couple minutes ago and eat even if I feel so full.
I want you to know something: the more you focus on what you shouldn’t do, the more you will feel like doing it.
If someone around you said stop eating it might trigger you (try avoiding such comments, maybe tell them you’d appreciate it if they don’t comment on this and that you are trying)
Reduce food triggers:
You definitely have to go out more😋. I know no more uni, but you’ve got so many fun things to do outdoors😆😆. Meet new people, go on hikes, do sport activities with friends, go on a family trip, work a part-time job that you can enjoy..
Do not restrict yourself. Binge eating doesn’t get fixed by hyperfocusing on stopping it. If this doesn’t become a way you want to live, but instead something you are forced to do, one day you will not be capable of withstanding anymore. So what should you do? Try to reduce slowly. Even if you binge ate one meal less from week 1 to week 3, it is still progress. Understand that there is no pressure on you. You don’t need other people’s approval, this is your own body, and if you are going to put in the effort of helping yourself, you are going to do it solely because you want it. You want to be a healthier person. You want to help your body. You want to fix your life and make it a better place. You do this for yourself.
Change your mindset. Food isn’t calories. Our ancestors ate food for specific purposes. For example, in traditional chinese medicine, each food has its own energy. One is heating, the other is cooling. One creates dampness and the other reduces it. They used food as medicine if you had constipation for example. Let’s say you eat an apple. Search up the benefits of an apple and learn what it can be used for. Usually apples cause constipation. The next time you are hungry, you don’t go for apples, you try to go for watermelon for instance. That’s because you educated yourself about it and are making concious decisions without bringing up how much it will make you gain weight. Furthermore, if you eat a lot of junkfood, I would highly recommend you do research on the ingredients. Many of them can cause health issues. And so you can start reducing them with the mindset of I want to become “healthier” (not “skinnier”).
Reduce sugar intake. Hear me out. Sugar is addictive. If you want to get out of binge eating, the first thing you should look is sugar. I’m talking about artificial sweeteners, candy, donuts, cookies.. I kid you not, the first couple days will be hard. You eat whatever you want but not sweets. Afterwards, you don’t crave sugar as much. The more sugar you eat, the more you will crave it. I’ve been there, it’s a really brutal cycle😔. Okay so restraining yourself might be hard, buttt you can always stop buying them. If you no longer have these in your kitchen, it will be easier for you to stop them.
Also, you are beautiful🌷. I no longer have eating disorders, but I am still not the skinny person I was before. But the difference between the person I was while binge eating and the person I am today is that I love myself the way I am. I want to heal my body and live happy with it. Why sabotage my looks when it represents a very small part of who i am?
That’s not to say I don’t care how I look, but you have to get out of the cycle of “I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT”. It can be a cute “ I want to lose weight”🤣. And so you do things step by step and one day inshallah you will find yourself living the life you enjoy and the one that brings you peace.✨
Oh wow sorry for the long reply😅. If you need any more help, or you feel like expressing a certain thing feel free to talk. Sending lots of love ❤️.
