No, it's not???

I recently had a conversation with a friend, and she told me that being bulimic is actually good because at least we can eat whatever we want

that is insane

@usagiiiizzzz

I agree, it is... I wouldn't say the person was insane, but the idea is a formula for making the disorder worse.  It sounds like the person would be far better off with therapy rather than self-management.

@usagiiiizzzz not sure if ur friend is someone who experiences either disorder but that either sounds like someone trying to glorify their own bulimia and tell themselves “see, it’s not so bad” or someone who has never experienced and ED who just doesn’t understand the depth of it.

@usagiiiizzzz I don't get it. The comment, not your post. Eating disorders, whether it be ARFID, ana, mia, or another, all bring so much pain to the sufferer. Whether this comment aimed to glorify one, or minimize their suffering, I can only hope it comes from a place of ignorance. Eating disorders are not a competition. They are an illness, as real and severe as any other, and should never be compared in this way. Cancer would never be compared to heart disease, and no one would ever say one is "better" than the other. I want to be clear: You are valid. You are heard. No matter what this person said, any thoughtless comments anyone may make, you are valid. You are heard. And you matter.
