using food to cope with loneliness

Hi i'm a new member! I often find myself turning to binge eating when I feel alone and/or sad. I've tried to distract myself with different activities or trying to manage my feelings, but I always seem to come back to food. This cycle is really stressing and painful. I don't have any friends and my family is too busy to support me sometimes. I don't really know how to help myself anymore

What is the result?

Some people whom are very obese or have health issues started their journey doing same thing.

Have you spoken up to your family .. sometimes when we need support we need to ask for it... the idea that your close people are too busy now... will they be there later if this causes health issues. I get it boredom and loneliness and snacks are easy to do... I had to find ways to avoid because if i gained a few lbs i was more depressed  and not engaged which led to more snacks. it can be a cycle.

Hi snoopy! I just want to start with welcoming you to the community 💓 We are glad to have you here.

Firstly, you're not alone! eating for comfort and when feeling difficult emotions is not uncommon. Some people use this as a way to cope. It is good to hear you're trying to distract yourself, this is a really good idea to help keep your mind occupied and concentrate on something else other than your feelings, I was wondering what have you tried so far?  It also sounds like your feeling quite alone with your thoughts? Sometimes writing them down can help, I have tried this method in the past. It can help with releasing your feelings so they are not stuck in your head. 💜

I am really glad you posted Snoopy 🎀
