Introduce yourself to the 7 Cups Eating Disorder Community!
Hi! I'm Seha and I've struggled with ED and starvation since I was 12, I like to believe that I have recovered relatively well, but every time I take a step forward, life gets in the way and I return to old habits. Here's to hoping I can join a community that understands me with no judgment! Fingers crossed!
@HappyHelper242424 I'd love to talk. Me too
Hi!
I have a strange eating disorder known as PICA. When I was little, I ate everything-dirt, paper, chalk, etc. As I've grown, I've become a picky eater with a fondness for paper. Toilet paper has the texture of cotton candy and notebook paper has a unique flavor. My whole life, I've known it was abnormal, so I hid the paper eating. It gets bad when my anxiety is high or I'm stressed. The last few weeks I've eaten rolls of TP. I told my mom about this a few years ago, but still feel shame and hide. I feel guilty and anxious and my stomach has been hurting more and more over the last month. It's not the same as other eating disorders which is why I think I've never really admitted it and called it what it is until now. Last summer, therapy for my anxiety and coping strategies helped me to not have paper cravings. I am having a hard time lately meditating and journaling. I want to stop eating paper, I know it can do damage if I keep up at this rate. I'm working on it!
HELLO EVERYONE.
Hi I'm Rose and I've suffered from anorexia since I was nearly 9 years old. I'm not sure how it started, but I have a good feeling it was because of a traumatic incident (my cousin committed suicide) when I was a kid. It started a lot of cutting frenzies, combined with starving myself and occasionally eating (I would throw it up later).
I've also had really bad self-image issues which started around then since people would always say things like "why don't you eat?" "do your parents not feed you?" "you're so skinny!" "are you sure you want to play basketball outside for so long? you look like you're about to faint!"
And the worst of all - "what are you saying?! girls would kill to have the body you have!"
Trust me Karen, they would not.
I think I've gotten better since then - I'm 19, I do eat as much as I can and I don't throw it up after I'm done. But according to my age and height, I am still 10 kgs underweight (which is very noticible)
Despite my own life being messed up by this disorder, I want to help people as much as I can and try providing my support for those who suffer the same to prevent them from ending up as I did.
THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME.
Hi! I'm Lena.
I started to suffer from eating disorders since when I was 16. Apparently various were the reasons that made this illness worse. It began as anorexia
Now I'm half reduce of bulimia, and I can't define myself fully recovered.
But one thing I learned apart maybe seeing a psychologist once in a while, is that with our strength we can fight it halfly off. And it comes from our hearts this.
We can prove to ourself the power of self healing.
And hence.. I'm not normal... I will never be normal like other normal people that eat normal people at normal times.. But I did many steps towards the right path
@Lena1224
Welcome Lena! I'm so glad you are on the path of recovery. Keep up the great work! We're here for you and if you need any 1-1 chats, just send me a message. Stay strong! 🙂❤️
Hi, I'm Emily!
My issues with eating started when I was about 11 (for a multitude of reasons haha). I severely restricted my food intake, and because I was already a thin kid, I was never diagnosed- I just kept getting taller without gaining weight. From then until I was 15, I continued severely restricting my food intake. Eventually, I stopped restricting as heavily, but still tracked my calories and only ate "healthy" while also running cross country, playing soccer, and working out.
Anyways, when I was 17 (summer before senior year) I had major surgery and could not exercise for 6 months. Originally, I lost some weight due to being nauseated by the medicine I was taking, but eventually I gained some weight from this inability to exercise. However, for the first time, I had stopped tracking calories and was actually a normal weight for the first time in my life. Then, a few months into my first year of college, I developed bulimia (don't really know why lol) and I've been struggling since- want to get help but have been too anxious to speak to my doctor/family and now I am here!
Sorry for the long post ! Didn't really know how else to explain it haha
Well, I have been working out so hard and actually lost 10 lbs!
My stomach get worse the more weight I loose. Itakes me want to eat less but then I actually gain weight. Which makes sense scientifically. I'm having bullimic thought now ... Even though I never have been.... It's just nothing ngakes my stomach better. I literally have a front butt. The thinner I get the worst my belly button gets. I know I'm blessed to have children, there is no doubt in me about that, it's just my body isn't the same and I'm not around women with this problem, they stayed beautiful, not one stretch marks or saggy skin. I changed. It really grosses me out. I need help and can't afford the help I need.... Gods, what do I do??? I'm only 25 with two kids and it looks like I had 6.....
Hi! My name is Katie. I'm 17 and I've been in recovery for an eating disorder for about 3 years now. I'd rather not go into detail because I know some people get triggered by descriptions of disordered behavior, but my ED is something I'm still dealing with to this day and I know that if I ever want to move past it, I have to choose recovery over and over and over again. It can be really hard though, so I'm glad to join a community of people who get it :)
Hi I'm hazel. I'm 15 and I have recently developed anorexia. I'm forcing myself to eat because my body needs it even to I really don't want to. In case I feel better and eat something having calories, I get extremely guilty and start exercising obsessively. My parents choose to ignore it or blame me for it, saying I'm too thin or yelling at me.
hi. im taylor i live in the U.S and ive struggled with anorexia since i was 18 years old. it started with my mother telling me how i should eat and look. lately i have been gaining weight and it gives me anxiety but i know it is okay for my body to change that way. it just takes a bit of reminding myself. im hoping to gain more insight and support as i really dont have much and i believe it would help me. im excited to continue my journey to recovery.
@angelbaby420 i'm so proud of you!! i know that you can do this! we will all be right here by your side :)
@angelbaby420 hey I was wondering how you started gaining your weight back and starting your journey
Hi, I'm Hazel. I have struggled with disordered eating for over 3 years now. I'm not comfortable saying I have an eating disorder as I have never been diagnosed. However, I'm still struggling. I've been triggered to relapse by my depression lowering my appetite. I feel so stuck, but I'm trying to get better :)
