Scared, anxious but hopeful
Hello everyone! I’ve been struggling with eating disorders for about 7-8 years or even more. It’s such a suffocating problem, and I’m really tired of it. For the first few years it was like a hell, seemed like I unlearned how to eat. “Eat slowly, chew more, pay attention to every bite, sit when you eat, eat this and that, avoid this and that, keep a journal” and so on... ugh
I never suffered from anorexia but had a little period of bulimia. Then I just binged and overate. I gained a lot of weight but to be honest, I don’t care about my weight anymore, I’m just scared of my health. My habit of overeating caused some health problems that I still have. Luckily, the situation got much better, and I stopped binge eating, and I don’t overeat so often anymore. But it feels a bit unstable because sometimes I lose myself and overeat when I’m stressed. Right now I have a stressful period of my life, so I overeat almost everyday. I don’t like that, I feel weak and hopeless at those times. I really wanna find the way to get rid of this problem for good. Not to lose weight, not to look better, I just wanna be like a normal person who doesn’t think about food so much. I wanna be free and spend my life doing other things. This stupid problem has already taken most of my life. I want my life back, I’m determined to find the solution (no diet, no mindful eating, no obsessing over food, no super complicated solutions that only worsens the problem). I want to find a simple and natural solution, clinging more towards “intuitive eating” way. I guess it’s a hella long introduction, sorry xD

Hey Curious,
I understand struggling with an eating disorder for many years. I understand how hard it can be. How tiring and exhausting it must be. I understand for the first few years were the most difficult ones for you. I understand suffering from bulimia. I understand binge eating and overeating. I understand gaining a lot of weight. I understand being scared of your health because of how you treated your body. I'm glad your situation got better and you're on the path to recovery still. I understand over eating when you're going through a stressful situation or a period time in your life. I understand you don't like that and that makes you feel weak and hopeless is understandable. People tend to under eat or over eat when they're stressed so it's normal. You're not the only one in this battle. I understand you wanting to feel like a normal and do things that you want and dream of doing in your life. I understand you wanting to find a simple and natural solution that will be able to help you the most. Please know you're not alone in this and 7 cups is beside you. I hope you have a Happy New Year. Please take care of yourself and your mental health. I hope this message finds you safe and healthy. Don't apologize for the long introduction. ❤️
