Intuitive Eating

Hi all,

I have struggled with binge eating and emotional eating for years, until I found that intuitive eating framework helped, along with yoga and Acceptance and Commitment therapy workbooks for mental health....

Intuitive eating is helping me accept my body, reconnect with hunger and fullness cues, and to reject diet culture...though I feel like it's something to work towards, and intuitive eating is very hard when we have an active ED, but it did give me an alternative blueprint for relating to food and to my own body image issues.

It's really helpful for binge and restrict cycles, at least in my experience, and I'm finding that now I can start enjoying delicious food without fear of losing control and binging.

It's not about having a perfect relationship with food and intuitive eating, yoga, and therapy helped me realized it...it's about taking it one day at a time and learning to listen to my body again after years of going back and forth between diets and binges....and shame and guilt and fear.

I am still working on my relationship with food, because I'm an imperfect human in an imperfect society, conditioned in imperfect ways, but now I have the self awareness and self-compassion to eat in a moderate way and work towards what I refer to as food freedom.

If you want to learn more about this radical way of relating to food and our bodies, check out the book Anti-Diet by Christy Harrison or her podcast Food Psych!

Good luck! I'll be here to cheer everyone on and offer support!
