Journaling for Recovery

Journaling is a great tool for those who enjoy writing. There are many kinds of journaling that can be done, and not one size fits all individuals.

Many think of journaling as free writing. Just writing out whatever comes into your mind or having to write for an extended period of time. Some think of journaling as writing on a specific topic. In fact, there are multiple ways to journal.

Some other types of journaling can be:

Journaling with prompts

Alpha journaling (words or sentences starting with A and going to Z)

Art journaling

Bullet journaling

Video journaling

Creative journaling

Gratitude journaling

Art journaling

Prayer journaling

Dream journaling

Scrapbook journaling

Food log journaling

There are many other kinds of journaling options as well. Journals can be written out by hand, can be done on a file that you have locked down on your computer, or if you have ***, in a google.doc in your drive that you have set that only you can see. Some individuals choose to journal via a blog.

If you journal, what kind of journaling do you do?

How does journaling help you with your eating disorder recovery?

What challenges do you find with journaling?
